I updated Plex ios app 7.27 and it’s terrible. Every time I minimize the app and go back to it, it either crashes or freezes. It also then stops whatever is busy casting to our google Chromecast. Every. Single. Time.
Breakthrough at last!! I know what is causing all the problems!!
So after spending countless hours I found that the new Downloader function in Plex is causing the problems. Ever since I started using this feature the problems started.
Deleting everything you’ve downloaded and starting again does not work, you have to delete the app completely (and if on android also clear the cache), and then re-install.
Tested this 6 times and every time the problem was reproduced 100%
The Download function in PLEX is terribly buggy and causes havoc. It should be avoided at all cost!
I don’t use the download function and the Plex app on iOS has the same issue described in the original post. Every time you click away from the app to another app (eg, to check your messages) and go back to Plex - BAM - casting stops and you have to re-establish the link to the (in my case) Chromecast Audio device. Often you can see the Plex app having to boot up when you click back onto it. Plex logo, Home screen, no link to the casting device.
It’s really rubbish. It’s 2022.
