I had the same issue with many shows but not all. I waited a few days but with no fix & no response from my issue submission I ended up removing myself from the beta & installing the stable to get it to work
Does yours happen every show?
Also what device are you using? I am using the Chromecast with Google TV
I’m having this issue too. Again not on all shows. Only on the Android TV app… works fine on Plex Web.
Seems to be an issue accessing the main page for the certain shows… Happens if I try to access via the library or via a search. If I search for an episode name within the show I can access that way.
Also on the beta (Windows 1.28.0.5998, Nvidia Shield 9.6.0.33938)
I noticed it happens to most shows that aren’t matched for Metadata & only like 1 in 5 of those that are. I don’t know if that helps in any way since it doesn’t look like anyone from Plex is paying attention, but I thought it might be helpful if they ever see it
Tried with around 15 shows. Crashed every-time I tried to view them, and that is to view the items, not play them.
Yeap!
All of my items are matched (Plex Agent).
What device?
I’m on a Chromecast with Google TV, @chrikee is on an Nvidia Shield, it seems different devices are having the same problem but not exactly the same.
Also if you do a search & click on an episode does it still crash?
As per provided logs, Nvidia Shield Pro (2019).
So to confirm… if I search and click a show it crashes. If I search and click an episode it opens fine. The issue is with opening the main show pages
Alright, so same all around except your crashes on every show.
Well, it’s been a week now without a fix, or even a response on here or on Google Play store Beta Page, I think I’m just gonna stay with the stable for now as it still works fine
Thanks for reporting, we have been able to reproduce it happens when you have your TV library set to collapse single seasons. We will have a fix in the next beta release that should be available shortly.
That’s a confusing way to word that.
The options are Show, Hide for single-season series, which I assume is what you mean, & Hide
Most of mine are set to Show including some that I can confirm were ones not working. I left the Beta so I can’t check it now, but I thought you should know that it happens other places
Thanks for letting us know, if its popping up elsewhere the same fix will resolve the issue.
I am not on the beta: Server Version#: Version 1.27.2.5929 (on Ubuntu)
and I think I am seeing something similar (PMS On Ubuntu repeatedly crashing) whenever I try to watch something.
After restarting the plex service, I was able to use Plexamp to listen to music all day today. But as soon as I went to play a movie, everything stopped working. Plexamp won’t even load my library.
If I wait a bit, it seems to recover and then I can listen to music again.
For me it seems turning off the new setting “Sync my watch state and ratings” SEEMS to have helped, because when it came around this last time (after crashing) I disabled that and was able to start a movie.
Ninja edit: I take that back, after clicking around a bit more, it does eventually just crash while trying to watch something.
I think your issue is completely seperate, I’d suggest starting a new thread about it.
This issue is with the beta version of the PLAYER not the server, & it’s the app that crashes, on the device watching, not the server itself.
Ah sorry, I misunderstood. I should have read through a bit more carefully
Thanks for the report about the server crash, if you could start a new thread tagged with the server and include server logs someone from the server team will be able to take a look.
Can confirm Plex for Android 9.6.0.34127-beta fixed this bug. thanks for the fast fix
Confirmed fixed for me too. Thanks ![]()
