The Plex app on my Sony Bravia 4K TV keeps crashing as soon as I open it.
If I clear the apps cache it will load partially get to the dash board and then close.
It only seems to open if I clear the app data and then carry out the account link.
I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it on the TV and still have the same problem.
It only started happening around a week ago when I updated the Plex Server.
Once it’s loaded it’s fine I can watch as much as I want but if I exit and open it again it closes.
I have the same exact issue with Sony android tv and temporary remedy (clear data and re-link account).
Anyone have a permanent fix?

my workaround is unplug it from the power supply and plug it back in, and then i can play plex without problem. After, when i closed it, the issue appears again.
The latest Beta addresses a few crashes. Please try and let us know if they helped. If not, PM me your email address and the approximate time of the crash. Don’t forget to include your timezone. I’ll check if the crash report got reported and we can look.
A family member of mine has the same issue on their Sony TV.
Mine and a friends is also doing this. Did a reinstall which worked for 24h now doing the same again.

I have the same problem on my satelite-tuner with android. Ever since last update the app just tries to load and then just bump me to the home-screen again. Ive found this to happen always when the unit has been used earlier, but not so often when its been off for some time, like over night.
If i go delete buffer and data and relog to app, it starts like normal. So it usually take me 1 min or 2 longer to start the app for now. Its not enough to just delete the buffer, you need to delete all the data and relog it seems. Hope this get fixed soon!
That’s a bit of a joke really… A week to join a beta.
Why isn’t the beta with the app working pushed out as a release??

I could, but I shouldn’t have to… I’m paying for Plex, it shouldn’t be broken on a major TV platform.
And if it is, it should be fixed ASAP…
I’m also seeing the same issue.
I don’t particularly want to wait a week or sign up for a beta account and put myself into a permanent guinea pig phase for this. Can we get a priority hotfix pushed out?

Yep I am also experiencing this now. As soon as i load the app it crashes back to the home screen, only way of getting around it is clearing the data and re-linking. I have a Song Bravia 4K Model - KD-55X9005C.
Same for me here. Sony KD-55XD8599. Very frustrating! Clearing only the cache used to work now that isn’t. Luckily the relinking of the account is a quick(ish) process. Sometimes it loads fine, but 8/10 times it won’t and requires the clearing and relinking of the account.
When can we expect a fix?

I don’t have a Plex Pass, but did pay for an app that has not worked for a week and is still not working.
