I was thinking to port client for LG Smart TV to Panasonic. As I can understand Panasonic Smart TV basend on Firefox and HTML based app can be ported easaly ⦠as it is already exist it can be converted in a short period of time. Just dont know the situation for Panasonic. I had no luck to find any web based app store to check if any app support PMS. And Iāve talked with Panasonic and as I can understand I can publish apps as an individual programmer only as a company and I have to pay about $200 USD for such ability. But if there are enough clients to recoup the cost I can try to port XPlay (3-rd party client for LG SmartTV) for Panasonic platform
Bublikoff, Iād purchase it

For the moment Im trying to deal with LG ⦠they are discounting PAID apps from LG store ⦠and all PAID apps must be converted to free or to āin-app purchaseā version ⦠after I finish with LG I finally have time to start porting current version for LG to different platforms such as Panasonic Smart TV

As I can understand 65AX800 is AX800 serie? I just dont know much about Panasonic SmartTV platform and Iām trying to fill this gap in my knowledge
The Technical Evaluation Account cannot be used to check (within the 180 days of validity) if a porting is possible (from LG, Plex WebApp)? Or if a fresh development could be done?
Probably you cannot submit the application, but the app could be tested before pay for a Commercial Development.
My 2 cents

As LG uses web apps and Panasonic do the same ⦠I think that with some small changes current version for LG can be converted to Panasonic smart platform ⦠BUT as the app hosted online and cannot be installed to TVās memory I also need to create app hosting for that ā¦
hehe I was thinking that Ive a lot of problems with LG but it seams that with Panasonic Ive to solve more quests to develop an app)

Ye ⦠I can not! ⦠I was thinking to but a SmartTV from Panasonic to have ability to test the app and I need to find a cheap model for that. For eg Ive a LG Smart TV (webOS 1.2) and webOS emulators ⦠and I can easily test the app. I was thinking to backport it to the old LG platform but as Ive no real TV to test on ⦠there are some problems with it ⦠as the code used to work several months ago (on Netcast Platform emulator) but now it just dont want to make any web requests and I dont know is it the problem of emulator or the same issue will be on real TV.
So real TV is the best option to test the app.
Panasonic also has no any app source protection ⦠I also need to ācreate my ownā before it can be published in Panasonic app store

āIf a problem has no solution, it may not be a problem, but a fact - not to be solved, but to be coped with over time.ā
As I bought my Panasonic, I thought FireFox OS is a good choice. The reviews I read never mention the limitations I have now with the special version of FF OS for Panasonic.
Now it is not late to change the TV against a better (and often cheeper) SmartTV solution ā¦
Panasonic will not do any development of any app, and why they should⦠instead Panasonic should make it easy and possible to use FF OS apps found outside of the given Panasonic store.
Expecting, it will not happen any time soon, I like to see Plex itself to offer the missing app for the Panasonic FireFox OS TV.
Hello,
I hope plex or Playz, Xplay coming to firefox-os (Panasonic CX800)
Any update on this, or viable alternatives?
I really want to stream from my PC to TV!
I have been messing around with getting Plex onto my Panasonic CX802B. The closest I can get to a native app without all the extras like additional remotes is using a Raspberry pi and RasPlex. It looks like a Plex app and the the best part is that because it is CEC compatible, you can use the Panasonic remote to control it. I tried it on a pi 2 and it seemed ok, so a pi 3 will be even better. Use it over Ethernet to get the best speed. You could use powerline/home plugs if your router is not close enough.
To switch to it, just tell the TV to switch to its HDMI port. I am using the pi connected to an external amplifier, but I see no reason why the TVs audio wonāt work or even the audio return channel over HDMI or optical if that is how your external speakers are connected.
The downside is that the pi cannot support HD audio and you may have to purchase a couple of licences to get Mpeg2 and VC-1 to work, but they are really cheap.
Good luck - still hoping for a native app - any news?
After all the testing with a Raspberry Pi, my Mrs did not like the fact, that to power it on, you had to manually plug it in each time - boo.
Bought a Roku3 instead. Just need to get wake on LAN working now (another feature requestā¦)

Just got a Panasonic CX800 ⦠great TV and the Firefox OS is nice and simple (but unfortunately lacks the apps ⦠and Plex). Would be great to see Plex native on the Panasonic ā¦
Please can we have a plex app for vieraā¦please
Yes, Plex for Panny please!
