Plex has been consolidating and harmonizing their apps with the „new experience“ releases. This applies to the mobile apps and Roku for now (Apple TV in preview).
Hence, this update does apply.

The linked post mentions „the next release“ — I guess that’s as good of an ETA as we‘ll get.
in the meantime the iOS app is bugged and cannot be used for playlists.
