This is something that has just started for me a few weeks ago on my 4k Firestick, I’m not having the problem on any other devices.
All of my tv shows in HEVC 10Bit H.265 will no longer play more than one episode without crashing. These are series that I have previously been watching on my server for a while now, usually from a playlist I created.
I have noticed the shows in H.264 format will play through no problem.
The generic error reads “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.” when attempting to play the next episode in any fashion, if I let the episode end and wait for the next episode to continue automatically, or if I skip to the next episode using the next button, or If I press down twice to show the available videos upcoming in the cue and select one from there.
After the error is cleared the next episode can be played as if it were the first episode starting a new cue, but the second episode from that start will be met with the very same error as before.
I started playing becker s01e02 and skipped through the intro at the beginning and it played fine.
Then tried to skip to the next episode becker s01e03 and received the error. The PMS.2 file should be the one to check.
Just to add, I have a similar issue with two 4K firestick except it doesn’t matter what file I play, it could play fine all day then when I go to play something it stutters, freezes, sometimes becomes unresponsive and usually crashes, after it crashes, the same file will play with no issues.
What I have noticed is that clearing cache temporarily fixes the issue, this can occur a few times a day, I assume depending on usage.
This has been an issue for the past 3-4 updates to the app on 4K firestick.

Next time it happens I’ll try to capture the logs from the firestick.
When I watch my Firestick I wear headphones and today I noticed that if the headphones are disconnected the tv shows will play through but as soon as I connect my headphones and try to skip to next episode I am back to receiving the error.
I had previously mentioned that this only happening on my Firestick, but now Microsoft Edge will not even play 1 episode, it throws the error immediately. But I can use the Plex app for windows on the same machine and they play fine.
Today I switched out my 4K Firestick for my older Firestick lite. Without doing any of the updates I was able to get all my files in H.265 to play through without interruption while connected to a Bluetooth speaker.
Today the Firestick lite was updated. The plex version on it is now 8.22.0.02533 and everything works fine on it. H.265 files are playing one after the other like they should. So the problem seems to only be with the Firestick 4k version now.
I tried to use the Fire TV 4k again today and did the update on the device along with the update for the plex app that shows the new updated view.
After connecting to the speakers via Bluetooth I began playing a series in H265 format, as soon as I skipped to the next episode I quickly received the error message “An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.”.
I disconnected the speakers and the episodes were able to skip through them with no error messages.
I suppose I will continue to use the Fire TV Lite because this has not been an issue on it so far.
