I fall asleep to plex playing an old TV show and since the last update we’ve been having issues with that TV Show. That show has HEVC Codec. It fails after the first episode is played when it tries to search for the next. Error: Error occurred while attempting to play this video

I tested with a second TV Show I had that was HEVC Codec and it also does not go to the next episode. So both HEVC Codec shows are failing for me trying to get to the next episode.

I tested again but this time with a TV Show I have that has a H264 Codec and the New Player has no problem with this show finding the next episode.

I think there might be issue with the new player and the HEVC Codec on the Firestick, because I had no issues with the old player and whenever there was an update and the new player was forced on, I always had to turn it off in order to get these videos to play. I’ve seen a lot of issues with this previous update with the new player and the firesticks on this forum and Reddit.
Hopefully this could help in some way.

I have two different TV Shows on this log, the first show you see in the log is one of the shows that draws the error. After the error I turned network logging back on and put on the show that works fine for me. I let it sit through the intro to see if the Skip Intro button popped and it did, then I pulled the log so both TV Shows would show.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that the videos that are failing going to the next episode seem to be not showing the option to Skip Intro. But the videos that are showing it, have no issues.

Interesting, the logs suggest there is an error initialising the audio output (despite the difference being in the video format).

There was a recent issue where we failed to initialise the video decoder correctly after previous playback attempts, the build below has a fix for this. Would you be able to side load it onto your device and see if it resolves the issue?

With that side load app version: I was still replicating the issue with the next episodes not playing.

This time it was a bit different as before it failed immediately, and the app you gave me to try, showed me a loader for a few seconds before it gave me the error message.

Here is the log, the last thing on it should be when it failed.

I am having the same issue with the new Chromecast. It seems directly related to HEVC shows.

I recently upgraded a few shows to HEVC and can replicate this issue. When the show goes to autoplay the next episode, it fails and displays the ‘an error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.’ message. If I click okay and load the episode from the season/show menu it spins up and plays just fine (no transcoding).

I can post logs when I get to a computer.
