Firestick 4k does not play next video in a playlist, audio only black screen

Basically the error is back again from this same support request

After current video is finished playing, the next video in a playlist or series just hangs on black frame, plays audio only. Occurs on all 3 of my firesticks, same versions. I can go back to list and it will play in a thumbnail. I can manually start the episode over again. It used to only happen when using the play random episodes options. Now it occurs when any video ends and another starts to play. I’ve had this happen occasionally over the years and it generally seems to be fixed in future updates eventually but, this time it’s lingering for quite a while and making it very difficult to use the product.

I am seeing something similar on my Shield, happens when watching TV shows with autoplay on.

The episode ends and then sometimes when the next episode starts I just get a black screen. I do not get any audio, but that maybe because I have an AV Receiver…

If I look in the plex web dashboard, there does seem to be network activity while the screen is black

Problem is that it does not happen every time. If I go back and start the episode manually it will play straight away.

Unless anything has changed I don’t think I can capture logs from the client, as it would stop logging before the problem happens.

this seems to have occurred often over the years. I assume it’s something with a server update and transcoding that changes. I’ll have to make note this time of what version precisely fixes the issue and make sure not to update anymore if i absolutely don’t need to.
