Plex arcade controls, platforms available

I just started testing the plex arcade and really liking the option for a one place for all my emulators, I have 2 questions and issues I’ve run into so far:

  1. n64 games run great, the issue is it shows the same on screen controls as it does for snes. You need at least the joystick to move and z button. Figure this will be added in a future update. Haven’t tested with Bluetooth controller but guessing it will work fine.

  2. what platforms are actually compatible? I have a handful of cores but not all platforms are loading in plex, I can only get NES, SNES, N64, GENESIS, GBA. I’ve tried adding Gameboy/color, Playstation, GameCube, dreamcast. But none show in the platform section even though I added cores from libretro and mapped in the xml file, they also have games.

I also notice zip files don’t run, they can be read and added with meta but running throws an error, not an issue but a heads up for anyone, you’ll need to unzip the games for now.

1 - If you are referring to the onscreen controls, I’m not sure what customizations can be done there. Something I’ll note for the future.

2 - You can find the platforms supported in our FAQ Plex Arcade Frequently Asked Questions | Plex Support. Please note that some files saves as BIN may not be found. Typically, you’ll need the ROMs with the specific extension for that platform. i.e. game.nes for NES.

3 - Yes, depends on the core. Some don’t work well with zip files.

what setup have you got? I’m having audio issues and slow rendering issues with N64 emulator. I’m running a GTX1050ti 4GB Windrush OC so would think it should be able to cope with rendering. Seems to be smooth using RetroArch so dont see why Plex is so slow to render and give me Stuttering audio.

Hey thanks for the response and yes for 1, i am referring to the onscreen controls, not sure where these are generated but I saw the NES onscreen are different than the rest (only an A/B button on right side) so figured these could be adjusted in the future.

  1. that was the issue, I had to change all the .bin files to the appropriate rom extension

are there plans to add additional adjustment settings for each platform? I also can’t get the N64 mupen core to run, and I seem to have issues with the NES core nestopia_libretro to run on android, it works on web fine (I’m not worried since this is a brand new test)

Also could we get controller support for Android? I just use the steelseries controllers which works great with the plex web platform, just isn’t recognized on my android phone

I’m just running my server on my asus Rog with a GTX 760, the sound issue is typically with the core, for N64 i’ve had the best luck with the mupen core but I can’t get that to work. the parallel_n64_libretro core runs everything great but does have the sound issue.

I know a lot of the other emulators had additional tweaks you could adjust to get sound and FPS to run better on your device and i’m sure that may be an option down the road

ah ok, seems i’m not the only one then. I did notice the other day that my GTX 1050ti is in a PCIe x8 3.0 slot not an x16 3.0 slot so I should probably take the chance to power down and swap that over asap lol. Havent figured out if you can improve transcoding of audio with better sound card.
Yeah I’m hoping for some tools/settings to allow customisations

This is 100% unofficial and based on my own testing, but it may help.

My next move is to update to separate those cores Plex are trying to support, vs ones which kinda work

Bless you, I had the darndest time trying to figure out why I was getting audio but no video on just the Genesis core. I was using Picodrive, and apparently that’s your experience as well.

I’m using a SteelSeries Nimbus controller and parallel n64 core. Everything runs great except there isn’t any Z button support. How do I map one of the unused buttons on my controller to the Z button??

The Z button should be R2.

I’ve definitely tried R2 (and every other available button) and it’s not working.

Any updates on Z button mapping for N64 games? Specific core that maps properly?

Arcade is really turning out great so far. Thx
