I’ve also got a dual cpu server, wouldn’t work, fitted a gtx card and now working but had to do a second restart. Also had to monitor vi rdp as the windows firewall flags up the plex games transcoder.
That’s cool. Sadly I don’t have a pci express slot on my dell power edge t610. I did plan to build a new server but it’s to much. Trying to save up to make it possible
In general I have this all working now (I was OP). I learned a lot about how this works over the past couple days. That being said, this is an experimental feature at best. To charge for it now is ridiculous. I think they biggest issue right now is that the Game Transcoder can get hung up and needs to be killed manually if one ROM fails to work. Imagine playing remotely and you try to start a game and the emulator fails. That’s it, you can’t do anything until that transcoder process is killed. Fix that issue and we might have something close to an alpha feature.
thank you for the positivity! as someone who now starts his work day with a quick game of Commando in the browser, i enjoy it too ![]()
pro tip: in the web dashboard and Plex Dash you can actually see preview frames for game playback.
yeah that’s terrible and we’ll fix that. any chance of a log when this happens?
I’ve got my palm firmly planted in my face. In my excitement of getting everything set up, I didn’t even realize that Plex sees two versions of my N64 ROMs, and the default version isn’t compatible, but the second version works flawlessly (with the exception of Bluetooth controller I/O lag). I’m running PMS on Big Sur on a 2019 iMac 21.5”, and my clients are Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K.
Also works well on the iPhone 12 Pro with a wired mfi controller - I/O lag goes bye bye, so that’s cool! And cheap!
awesome, glad to hear!
I also got it working and been playing for the past 2 hours haha. Likely to what AFailing said, in my case it was the extension that did the trick. Before I had the games zipped, so I tried unzipping them (Was not sure because some of the Atari games are zipped too) ét voilá it’s working.
However, the Mupen64plus dll does not work for me. Too bad, as it seems at least on my Plex Web app the games go into a black screen after a few minutes of playing, so I’ll need to restart it every time then. But I’m confident things will improve a lot, as this feature continues to grow.
Thank you so much for this! I’m back at Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, cya bitches lol
awesome, glad to hear you’re playing!
Ok it seems that this is either a big issue where by the transcode service quits I too have tried many of the cores still have yet to get any working. I think this shouldn’t have been released as to me this is way way still in development , I’d like to know how the handful of people on here did get it working because I’m at my wits end and bloody paid to have a service that won’t run anything I’m seeing more posts on here of it not working than it is working , Plex please sort this out we all want to use this feature but reliably !
Hey all!!
Okey so I found the issues with everything. all ROMs lets say NES need to be unzip or unrared and need to be in a .nes format and boom works snes needs to be unrared unzipped as well… do this and it will work. works on mine no issue on the phone and everything else no issues…
enjoy gaming!!
