I am always surprised that the Plex team has no interest in implementing user requirements. I have been a paying customer of Plex for years, but the support is not good.
Apart from the DLNA request, there is also the requirement for m3u support for years.
If this continues, I’ll eventually switch to EMBY.
I would be pleased to receive an answer from the PLEX team
!!one week later: as always there is no answer from Plex Team
Oh so having a DLNA renderer (e.g HiFi receiver) and “casting” to it via Web App or Android app is simply not supported? (I mean this thread here makes it seem like it isn’t)
I just thought that there’s an issue such that plex won’t detect my renderer and was searching
and searching for a solution
Fortunately it works on on Emby (though that breaks too from time to time).
Well I have a custom made NAS running Freenas OS. So Roon would be too complicated for me to use anyway, while both Plex and Emby come as almost-plug-and-play plugins.
So Emby it is then. I’m buying a dedicated, modern audio streaming device (project stream box s2) too. Hopefully the intermitent issues I have with Emby DLNA would dissapear
I contradicts all logic why they don’t do that. Without it we have a great server unable to drive all the modern audio solutions without going through the computer.
Really weird especially because there is the select player icon already present.
