No progress… but at least some like this work partially. Anyway, with M3GAN you are not missing much with the “Unrated Cut”, just some extra blood added… and its a great movie… enjoy!
Bumping again to see if Plex, inc FTEs were able to get NVidia to assist.
Another Nvidia Shield update just landed! I’m too nervous to update but if anyone else does can they test if this issue has been fixed by it?
I updated my Shield 2019 Pro last night… Just tested The Martian… Still broken ![]()
Expected that. They would have definitely shouted about this in release notes if they actually fixed it. I think we can probably guess this will not be fixed in this version of hardware.. probably only ever fixed in some new generation hardware if it ever comes out (may be it will since there seems to now be active development going on in patches)
The march of time goes onward…
Bumping to see if Plex, inc can get nVidia to answer emails as well as see if Kingdom of Heaven Director’s Roadshow Cut exhibits sync issues? I have my disk in-route and want to know what version to rip.
Looks like Kingdom uses TRUEHD and seamless branching
Prediction: Kingdom of Heaven will not play properly in Plex. ![]()
I am waiting on my copy.
Someone really, really, really (@OttoKerner?) needs to make a list of (Atmos) movies whose audio doesn’t play correctly on Shield thanks to the many-years-long-and-unfixed bug.
At least I’m happy PGS subtitles and 4K HDR finally got solved!
For all users affected by this long standing issue, can you please reply to the following post on the Nvidia Support Forums to force Nvidia to produce a fix.

Emby also using exoplayer has this issue. Kodi does not which with the pm4k plugin is my go to player.
A quick follow up, it looks like Nvidia have quickly hidden the above forum post and you now need to log in to see it.
I would like to report that
LETHAL WEAPON
(the new 4K version on disc, the extended version)
does not play back correctly in PLEX on the Shield
Thank you for your attention to this matter my friends and @OttoKerner
Ran into a weird thing today, don’t think it is related to this issue but maybe someone else here has run into it. I have Conan The Barbarian (1982) UHD 4k theatrical and director’s cut. It has TrueHD so I knew it wouldn’t work on plex so I watched on Kodi. I was trying to watch the theatrical today and found out both versions will not play on plex. You play from start, it goes dark and says Dolbyvision and just stays on 00:00. If you advance a few seconds, it plays. I fixed it by using Mkvtoolsnix and cutting like the first 16 seconds off (The Universal animation). Super weird. Never seen this before on anything else. It is like the beginning has some weird encoding that plex does not like. I saw someone else post on Reddit a year ago with the same issue.
What program did you use to rip
MakeMKV. I have 100s of ripped blurays and like 70 4k UHD. This is the only time I have seen this issue. Removing the first few seconds fixes it. Seems specific to the Conan 4K encoding because someone else posted the same problem a year ago on reddit.
ive come across this as well with my rips of conan.
A follow up on this, Nvidia were quick to ghost (hide) the topic, only those that originally commented on the post can still see it, no one else can. This appears to be a deliberate attempt to silence user complaints.
Posted the issue here: lets see if they “Ghost” or delete the topic: MKVs from seamless branching blu-rays cause TrueHD / Atmos audio drop outs and/or sync loss : r/ShieldAndroidTV
