Hello,
I’m running a Plex server on a Debian box located on a fiber optics 250Mbps connection. I’m now on vacation on a different country (About 2500km away) than my server, and trying to stream from any web browser results in a lot of buffering if I stream on original (1.8Mbps bitrate) video quality. If I set the quality to automatic then it doesnt buffer but the stream quality is terrible. The connection I’m using it on is a VDSL 25Mbps but exact the same behaviour happens on my mobile using 4G+ connection. The server transcodes to 7Mbps. Interesting thing is that I tried the plex app for windows 10 and it works fine on original quality without buffering at all. Some tests revealed that the app uses direct stream playback without transcoding that defaults to 6Mbps. I dont buy that the issue is the 1Mbps difference. The server is more than capable of transcoding 1 stream using quicksync acceleration.
Any ideas why this is happenning?
Thank you
