Plex can not find Plex server

Server Version#: just updated
Player Version#: just updated

I have a dual boot system running Windows 10 and Linux Mint. Plex works well in windows but on Linux, it will only see the server for windows, therefore I can not play anything through Linux.

Can this be fixed? I find myself using Linux a lot more than windows.

May I suggest some light reading?

Here’s a collection of some of the most common issues.

Windows -> Linux users have to change how they think about their hard drives and manage how they are mounted because Linux is a multi-user OS where Windows is single-user.

If your first issues are not here, Please explain in greater detail “I cannot play anything through Linux” isn’t very helpful.

When I start Plex in Linux, it can not recognize the Linux server. It does show the Windows server but that is useless in Linux. I simply want to play the videos that I have saved in my Linus/Videos folder.

Sometimes, you need to sign the web app OUT of your account when setting up.

Presuming the Linux box is also on your LAN.

  1. sign the web app out
  2. http://ip.addr.of.machine:32400/web

If it’s remote or on a different subnet, you’ll need a SSH-tunnel to it.
