Android does support that. Your logs show it is trying to direct play the file then fails. You have refresh rate switching enabled and that appears to be having issues. Turn that off and see if that helps.

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

I have to have refresh rate switching on to fix DoVi frame rate stuttering that’s a well known issue, however I have tested without and it still transcodes. I can see it tries to Direct Play but fails and falls back to transcoding.

That would mean there is something in the video the player doesn’t like. Does this happen with all H10 videos?

Hi,

I don’t have many but it is the same for all the High 10 media I have.

What is your Shield connected to? Does it support 10bit color? The issue could be the Shield can’t render the output for your TV.

It’s connected to my Sony A95K

what does this have to do with my issue?

I was just adding into things that have the same problem but I shall delete it.

Shield does not support Hi10P natively in hardware.
The Amazon FireStick 4K and 4K Max do.

It works in Kodi because it’s decoding it in software.
