I downloaded and installed Plex-Media-Server-1.3.3.3148-b38628e on my computer and am trying to setup my library but when I try to open Plex and sign in via Chrome on the same computer it is telling me that no Server is found and to download the Media Server. The weird thing is that I had the older version of Plex installed before and was connecting to my friend’s server remotely just fine. I’ve tried to trouble shoot and have searched the forums but nothing works.
I’m running Windows 7 btw.
Does Plex Media Server.exe process show up in Windows Task Manager ?
You can see if there are no logs that got written to
By default they would be in this folder
C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs
where xxxxx is the windows account you launched Plex Media Server.exe in
Also when it says there is no server, do you see a button for Settings and then Web settings?
If you do, enable verbose logging there: Show Advanced, Debug, Verbose logging and save changes.
Then refresh to try and access the server and when the error occurs, take screenshot and get the web log
Settings / Web / Show Advanced / Debug / View Log
Select All and copy to text file
Attach server logs and web log and screenshot
