Plex censorship?

Is Plex censoring content ?

I have the documentary “Revolutions of our Times” in two folders both of which are assigned to a folder for documentaries.

This film about the anti CCCP movement in Hong Kong and the protest movement there against the Chinese Government cannot be loaded in library updates by plex.

It is the only film that does not appear. The film is banned by the Chinese Government. Is Plex censoring this film so my library cannot load it ?

I have the film “Revolution of our Times” and it scans fine with the Plex scanner. I assume that’s the film you’re talking about. What is the file name you have for it? What happens if you click Match? If you have it misnamed “Revolutions of our Times” then the scanner might be having trouble matching it.

You can also see that it’s on Plex’s online metadata database (albeit the description is nonsensical):
https://watch.plex.tv/movie/revolution-of-our-times

This movie has no age classification assigned to it. As such, it might not appear in a Plex library, unless the library option “Include adult content” is activated.
(you can check this option just while adding the movie and then clear it immediately afterwards, in order to keep the ability to use Discover Credits)

It might also be beneficial to add the IMDb ID to the folder name, to aid a proper match:

/Documentary movies
   /Revolutions of our Times (2021) - {imdb-tt15049118}
      Revolutions of our Times (2021).mp4

I made a post to note that one of the possible causes of this issue is that Plex’s metadata system thinks the film is from 2022, while it is actually from 2021. I speculated that this combined with the user saying the name was “Revolutions of Our Times” rather than “Revolution of Our Times” may have been enough to cause the match issue. The post was hidden by moderation for being off-topic so I am reposting it without any further commentary and will make a separate thread for metadata errors I find.
