I would be a great feature to add for Plex Players on all platforms to have ability to specify Plex Server (Manual method) as URL vs IP address. For people that use DDNS it would be a great feature.
“Custom server access URLs”
You did not read my post correctly. I am asking about manually configuring PMS on Plex client (Player). Currently you can only specify IP and Port but not URL.
Ex. Open your iOS Player and select Settings/Advanced/Server Connections.
If you configure this correctly on the server, it gets posted on plex.tv, from where all your devices (and those of your sharees) will fetch it automatically.
Yes. That works but as you mentioned it goes through Plex.tv. If we have a way to specify DDNS URL in Plex player it would be direct connection. If for whatever reason plex.tv can relay then we don’t have a remote connection. It would be a nice to have option.

No it doesn’t. All that is loaded from Plex.tv is the web app into the browser memory.
From then on, it works identically to the local web app. The flow of data is the same.
It is an app, not a website.
Thanks. I understand
