I wanted to bring this topic back to life.
Currently I’m using a hotel router/wifi system, branded by Rukus, and used Tailscale to access my Plex server which lives on my QNAP NAS (connected via ethernet), and my iphone through wifi.
The very first time I tried it, it worked and I downloaded some music to my iphone via Plex Amp. A few days later I cannot get my library to show up at all via the Plex App, or PlexAmp.
After some experimenting I noticed that I can access my library via Safari by typing the Tailscale url directly into it. It gave me a warning saying it wasn’t on the Plex server but I knew that so I clicked on it.
When I tried app.plex.tv (which is what the apps use to login) it could not find my library at all. Which makes sense as I was unable to reach my library through this hotel Router that I can’t fully control (hence going through Tailscale).
What I don’t get it how did I get so lucky my very first time, and then have it fail just a few days later. Is it possible to get the Plex apps on iOS to use the web address login for Tailscale instead of the default app.plex.tv login?
My network settings is set to custum server which is the Tailscale address, but Plex.tv either lost it, or is now refusing to use it.
