Any one have any answers to my post above about not being able to play content
I see a lot of people having trouble with uploading with the Plex Sync feature. I use Rclone to upload to Amazon. First do a configuration for Amazon as explained on the Rclone site. Then make a shortcut and put someting like this in it:
%comspec% /k c:\Rclone\rclone -v copy c:\Music remote:Music & c:\Rclone\rclone -v copy c:\Movies remote:Movies & c:\Rclone\rclone -v copy c:\Pictures remote:Pictures
This is what I’ve put into it but you can configure it as you want. %comspec% is the relative path to cmd.exe, /k is to keep the command screen open after finish, -v means verbose (print a lot of info, & is to add another command and remote is the name you gave your remote location in the Rclone configuration.
If you use windows task scheduler you can auto start the shortcut with windows. This way I automaticaly copy new content from my desktop to Amazon each time windows starts. I use the Rclone copy command because it copies new and changed content to Amazon without deleting content that I have deleted on my desktop to save space.
I think that using a correctly configured Rclone saves up a lot of Plex Sync hassle. Imo the server should be used to stream content to my apps, not for uploading to the cloud. Plex is not an upload service.

That’s for “Plex Cloud”. This thread is for the old Plex “Cloud Sync”. Yeah, confusing.
I’m mostly interested in this service because i like the idea of my content being safe on amazon drive but without the hassle of having to manually add new content for upload. I add it to plex, plex adds it to amazon drive.
How is that easier then just adding it to Amazon Drive and having Plex Cloud do it’s thing? Or are you comparing it to something else?
Ok. So reverting back worked and now uploads. However whenever I go to play something I get.
Connection to server was lost. You can try again or browse the device instead

well for one thing for people who have terabytes of video files its easy to miss some and since amazon drive won’t automatically add new files that you have added to your folder the only option is to copy it to local storage then copy it to amazon drive as well. I’d much rather just add it to my local media and not have to worry about it. If plex is willing to take the extra steps out of backing it up then why wouldn’t i want that?

You could use a solution like netdrive or expandrive, which loads your cloud storage like a usb harddrive. You can then point sonaar/sickbeard/couch potato directly to it. Some are even using that and pointing plex directly at it for their libraries…
I don’t know anything about those programs. and once again it seems like an extra step thats not needed or am i missing something? I’m under the impression with this plex cloud thing i simply add files to my movie or tv show folder and plex automatically adds it to my library and amazon drive so that if my drobo’s fail i can still retrieve my media. i would simply just have to replace my failed drobo and redownload my media from amazon drive. Correct?

No, not really. With using “Cloud sync”, when any local files are deleted, they are deleted from cloud sync too. Also, if you go look in your cloud folders right now, you won’t find your files because plex changes the names to incomprehensible stuff for some reason (privacy probably).
Plex Cloud beta is kind of the opposite, you put your files in amazon drive and then they’re made available to Plex Cloud… And you can download them whenever.
Moot point anyways, since plex cloud is in early limited beta, and if your system works for you… Don’t change it lol
There is currently an issue uploading files to Amazon Cloud Drive. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Plex is working with Amazon to get things sorted as soon as possible.
Are available for this new information?
Now hangs on my plex server when the sync with Amazon. It is getting worse.
Ok, so I have applied for Plex Cloud Beta, and received confirmation, but no approval yet to participate. I have signed up for unlimited Amazon Cloud Drive and am in the process of (very slowly) uploading my library to Amazon. I also noticed I can use Cloud Sync (which I guess is separate) and have linked it up with Amazon Drive. I picked a movie to upload, it converted, but never uploaded. I’m running PMS 1.2.3.2914-1ff0f18. I hear Cloud Sync isn’t working? And they seem to be moving away from it anyway, as it wasn’t really meant for entire libraries?
Should I just wait for the Plex Cloud beta authorization and be patient? My home server seems to not be very reliable for my extended family to use abroad, so I’m hoping Plex Cloud solves that issue. Any advice?
Same issue here, got the pass just for this feature. and it’s not working.

It may be a good amount of time before more invites are sent out for Plex Cloud.
Right now it is far from ready for general use and there has been no movement in about a month.
There is no indication that Plex Cloud will become a reliable replacement for a local Plex server but that is a stated aim of the developers. We will just have to wait and see if the desired functionality ever becomes functional.

A little more reliability with the local server would be nice. I don’t know why it just seems to go offline sometimes and when I’m around, its not a big deal to restart it, but if I’m traveling, nobody has access to anything and then I have people in my yard with torches and pitchforks

Consider using TeamViewer … it worked for me, and its much easier than remote desktop.
The problems with Could Sync seem to be exactly the same as the problems with Mobile Sync. Specifically, that it insists on transcoding everything for no good reason at all, thus taking forever and burning through tons of CPU to produce a lower quality copy instead of just transferring the content as is.
There is an option in the Android app to force DirectPlay and disable auto-detection. What we need is for that option to also apply to Mobile/Cloud Sync rather than just playback.

There are good reasons, they’re just not obvious or useful to YOU. For example, if a user wants to airplay a synced video, it needs to be compatible. Same if you use the “advertise as server” option, your phone can’t transcode.
Except that I already tested and made sure all of my devices can in fact DP. They even DP without setting DP to forced. That makes it difficult to see how the sync’s capability detection isn’t broken when it insists on transcoding the same media for sync.
