Plex Cloud

Hello, first i want to say i registered for the plex cloud beta weeks ago, but sadly didn’t get an invite yet. my question is, can i start uploading my videos to the amazon cloud an plex can later scan the cloud drive, or does the plex media server application have to upload my videos to the amazon cloud? thanks in advance:)

The former.
Please refer to the numerous other threads already in existence on this board for further enquiries about Plex Cloud.

You can start uploading your videos now, no need to wait. Keep the same structure you already use for Plex and you should be good once they invite more people into the beta.

I am constantly uploading at this point from everywhere I can and just chomping at the bit to get in.

I was curious how fast are peoples uploads and is there the ability to gang the uploads from multiple locations?

@Ryan Gallagher - That is the big question. Some people are using rclone and getting decent speeds. I just use the Amazon Drive app on my mac and get ok speeds, I just drop in a few files and go do something else or go to bed.
Have not tried the multiple location option.

I am using the amazon tool from home, it’s terribly slow on my 5mbps comcast upload speed. At work where I have 100mbps I use goodsync since we block app data applications and that uploads about 100gb in 5 hours

Depending on the time of day my upload speeds, on a 1Gbps connection, can range from 100Mbps up to 900Mbps
…and uploading from multiple locations seems to work as well

I tried using GoodSync and it works well, but I noticed that the time stamps on Amazon’s side change to whenever the file is uploaded. The next time you attempt to sync, Goodsync tries to reupload or sync back to my computer depending on the mode I have chosen. If I let it use a hash to verify instead of dates, sync is very slow.

Using SyncBackPro now (trial). Have it set to ignore dates and is working well.

What other solutions are people using aside from rsync and the Amazon app.

rclone.org works very well

To prevent the reuploading problem in GoodSync place “existboth” (without the quotes) in exclude section of the filters section of the job you are using and be sure that the job is set to “backup left to right” rather than to sync.

I use the free version of odrive, it works very well. I installed it on two computers, one the htpc and the other my regular desktop to keep photos, documents and files in sync. Couldn’t be happier! In fact it works even better than Dropbox in some ways.

When will Plex Cloud be coming out of beta so that we all can use it?

That’s hard to say as Plex generally doesn’t speculate on timeframes.
