Hello everyone. I’m not sure I have understood properly the feature: is there a difference between Plex Cloud and Cloud Sync? I mean, is the service which is going to be provided with Amazon somehow different from Cloud Sync with dropbox, Google Drive, etc.?
Anyway, I am experiencing some troubles with this service. I tried to link the cloud server to Amazon Drive and nothing manages to finish the upload: typically doesn’t start or gets stuck. Someone told me that the problem is caused by Amazon, but changing to google drive, which I did few hours ago, doesn’t seem to change anything. Is there a way to make this thing work somehow? And is there someway to contact some sort of customer service to fix this? I mean after all we are paying for this service!
My understanding of these are:
Plex Cloud - A full implementation of Plex, with Amazon Cloud Drive as a storage medium. This will require an active Plex Pass (subscription), and an active Amazon Cloud Drive subscription. It is currently in invite only closed beta. No word on release yet. This is designed to be a complete system, where you don’t need a server of your own to run Plex.
Plex Cloud Sync - An addon measure for an existing Plex Server installation, that will allow the server to upload media to a cloud storage provider as a workaround for an inaccessible server, or for speed. The server can upload a file in its entirety, or transcode it prior to upload. This requires an already existing server, and an active cloud storage provider like Google Drive, Drop Box or Amazon Cloud Drive.
As for your issues with Amazon Cloud Drive, many people have reported similar issues, and most of what I’ve read points to Plex actually completing the upload but not reporting the success of the upload. Therefore, Plex doesn’t realize the upload is complete, and will not mark it as such.
You could look on your Amazon Drive and see if it is actually uploaded.
Cloud Sync allows you to upload some of your media to cloud (Amazon Cloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)
Cloud Sync is not a replacement of your current server it creates a copy of your media, an optimized version.
You need to have local PMS.

Plex Cloud (currently in Beta) allows you to run full PMS in cloud. All media (without conversion) are stored in cloud too.
You don’t need any hardware at home, everything is in cloud. Currently Plex Cloud supports only Amazon Cloud Drive.
It seems at this point that Plex is having some issues with Amazon Cloud Drive both in Cloud Sync and Plex Cloud.
Many people have opted in beta, not so many got in. There are so information on forum, from those who are “in”.
