Hello all,
New to the forums, but I’ve been a Plex user for a long time. Just bought the Plex Pass using today’s special deal. I can’t rave enough about Plex to family and friends, but the one thing I’m not too thrilled about is the slow roll out of Plex Cloud. Don’t get me wrong, I knew before I signed up for Plex Pass that Plex Cloud would only be available through invite, however, I do strongly feel that as a Premium subscriber, we should all have the opportunity to beta test this feature. I hope no one takes this as a complaint about Plex as a whole, but rather it’s seen as a better way of implementation for users who have put their money behind Plex. Once again, love the product and I bought the membership mostly to support the development group, so I hope this post is taken in a positive light!
It is rolling out slowly because it does not work well, at least yet.
The mistake Plex made was announcing it like it was nearly ready when it was actually more in an alpha stage the might reach to beta in the early first quarter next year.
BTW: I am one of Plex’s bigger supporters but I also one of their biggest critics when they make an avoidable mistake like this one.
The other part of the problem is that they have not sent out any retraction or modification admitting that the release was poorly planed at best.
Plex is a great suite of software but Plex (The company) seems almost violently bipolar in their behavior toward their customer base.
i think it’s currently slower than one might expect due to the issues they ran into with Amazon CloudDrive, but that’s admittedly speculation on my part as I prefer my plex servers to be a little more plastic & a little less cloud

I think that’s a completely unreasonable expectation. The only reason you feel this way is because you know about the product. If Plex had never announced that this product existed, and were performing a closed beta under wraps, you wouldn’t know about it until it went to the next stage, which may well be an open beta. Most companies run some sort of testing before they make it available even to top-tier users (like premium members). The difference is that you just don’t know about it. Plex started with a small beta test, inviting a relatively small number. Then they expanded the beta and invited (or are inviting) more. Eventually they may expand it again, or move to the next stage. Every company does some variation of this. Expecting that you should be privy to every single stage of development is simply unreasonable.
