I’ve noticed that I can no longer cast to my XBox with the new app, which was a feature that was finally working in the most recent versions of the 1.x app.
I’m still using PMS 1.8.1 and will upgrade if someone else can confirm that Companion support is working on newer server builds - these days I try to avoid server side upgrades unless absolutely necessary.
On PMS 1.9.5.4339 with two Android device, companion works without issues on the new app. My Surface Pro 4 doesn’t seem to work as companion but that’s never worked reliably with any app for years now…
I’ve now upgraded PMS to 1.9.5 and made sure that my Android devices are current (6.6.0) and rebooted everything - I’ve noticed that my server is listed as “Remote” in the Media Servers menu within the XB1 client (I would guess it should be “Local”?), although its on the same LAN/AP. I can’t cast to my XB1 from Plex Web in Chrome either.
If it shows up as remote, then that’s likely your issue. Plenty of threads on the forum on how to troubleshoot that. Likely something like dns rebinding.
Pretty strange, I was able to fix it by manually specifying the server IP address in the client settings. I hadn’t attempted to use companion since the system’s UI refresh so I’m not sure whether it was that or the app that broke my particular configuration. Thanks for the help.
