Plex connect not working after Apple TV sleep

Can you try editing, when PlexConnect is shut down, XMLConverter.py.

Change the following line:

Function GetURL - about lines 130-160 Line "conn = httplib.HTTPConnection(address, timeout=10)".

Change the timeout there (it is in seconds). You may want to play about with it a bit.

what timeout is it ? so i know how should i change it

This is not for everyone to change their configuration.
I just want the other two users to test this for now to see if we need to either make code changes or make this a user configurable item.

I was having a similar problem - Apple TV would not display art and would get stuck at "Accessing Trailers"... restarting the Apple TV fixed it.

Can you also try going into Plex web and unticking the require authentication on local networks.

that has been unticked. i will go into the timeout and change it.

something i just noticed. the apple tv was only asleep for maybe an hour. when i woke it up it played fine. something must change after being asleep for longer period.

Ok changed timeout to 60. Put Apple TV back to sleep This time a little over an hour. Checked it no play movies. Have to restart.

Are you using wlan/wifi or ethernet?
If AppleTV is going to sleep and you're using wifi, I would assume it would put the wifi card/adaptor/chip to sleep as well. But if using ethernet, the ether connection would still be alive.

Then when you restart the ATV it forces a reconnect maybe?

I made the change but we ended up not watching anything. We are out of town for the Holiday so it won't be till at least Friday before I can test. I will check back in this thread to see if anything has been figured out before testing and reporting my results.

Thanks

Hmm, the only other thing i am thinking is something to do with authentication and the PMS. I wonder if this issue will go away with MyPlex support.

I'm an unRAID user and also have the timeout issue.  I've changed it to 30 seconds and I'll try it again.

I cannot WAIT for myPlex support :)

What is myPlex support?

I am using WiFi now. i will try LAN over the Holiday and see what happens.

i am having the problem using ethernet too.

Okay i think we should maybe look to troubleshoot this further after MyPlex support is added, especially as we are also making some more under the hood changes that may effect this.

For now just go in to your ATV settings and set it so it does not sleep (it uses very little power).

I was having a similar problem - Apple TV would not display art and would get stuck at "Accessing Trailers"... restarting the Apple TV wont fix it. I need to re-install the plex connect in my mac mini again and then restart my atv3.   I tried Ethernet and WiFi. Always has the same problem after a few hours. I will set the ATV never sleep from now on.
