I have the same problem.
However, I can confirm that the problem did not occur “before”. For years I have been able to watch videos with my (admittedly aging) iPad Air and Plex without any problems.
But since a few months I have these breakdowns. Yesterday even so serious that the Plex app aborted every 2-3 minutes.

Same here. Also want to mention that it worked like a charm for a lang period of time (using it for several years now). The app on my iPad crashes after about 20 minutes of playing. App version 7.5.1, iOs version 12.4.8. PlexDebugInfo-mrf68-7.5.1-21592 (2020-09-14 10.24.33 +0200).zip (1016.0 KB)
I’ve also been seeing a lot of crashes in the iOS Plex client. I’m running an iPhone 7 with iOS 13.6.1, and the crashing has been happening regularly when I:
- Open Plex app
- Click the “Home”/hamburger menu
- Choose Music (which is Synced locally from my plex server)
- Select an Artist
At this point, the artist page loads, but then the app crashes within a second or two. Some artists consistently crash, while others never crash.
If I select the same music library, but the link that connects to the server, instead of the locally synced files, then it works fine, and never crashes in this way. So it seems this crash only applies to synced libraries.
Just yesterday I tried deleting the Plex App and the tens of GB of synced music off my device, then reinstalling the App and re-syncing the library down. I still have the same symptoms after it was all complete. I also tried deleting the library off my plex server, then re-adding the library (I use only the local metadata and album art anyway, so this wasn’t a big loss for me), then re-deleting the App and then re-syncing the newly re-built library down, and I still have the same symptoms.
I have a second music library for game and movie sound tracks, and that one has never had this problem, which makes me think it is something specific to the albums that crash. Maybe some unexpected metadata or something? I haven’t dug into this theory at all yet.
I’d be happy to send any logs, just let me know how to do it and where to send the results!
It has been happening on my ipad as well… very frustrating. I am researching other player options … 
Does anybody has a solution or an alternative app? I am very disappointed because of this unfixed error!!!
