Thanks for reporting the crash

Please in future zip the files you wish to upload and attach the one zip - would make it much easier than having to download each log file individually

Can you please locate these files and zip and send the zip to me by Private Message

C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\1\54ac8bfb-27c9-4ff2-a783-6d4a6025b36c.dmp
C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\1\54ac8bfb-27c9-4ff2-a783-6d4a6025b36c.log

and if you had any further crashes of the server since this August 21st crash, please provide fresh server logs captured after the crash and look for any .dmp and .log files in the %TEMP% directory with similar names as above - please do not attach dmp files in the forum but send by private message - zipped

I notice you are using “Per Session Temp Directory” - this has been seen before to give rise to issues - Is it because you are running Plex Media Server in an RDP session ?

There is a policy you can change to stop using the per session temp directory so it would use %LocalAppData%\Temp rather than %LocalAppData%\Temp\1 for the %TEMP% directory

Hi
Sorry for the very, very late reply. I have been rather busy and a nightly plex restart scheduled task takes care of most issues, but I’m still having issues.

I am running plex on a server, but not specifically via rdp. I never play plex directly there. No reason it should be setup that way. A quick google is not elling me how to switch that off, do you have a link to the documentation.

I do not have any dmp files, only .log files in C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\1

I will bundle everything in a zip and send them via pm.

Thank you for your feedback!

Would need to follow up why “Per Session Temp Folders” are being used. The 1 sub-folder is an indication that this is in use.

On old versions of windows - there was a setting in Group Policy (accessible through gpedit) that would allow you to disable that - it was in
Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Terminal Server\Temporary folders

Are you running Windows 10 or Windows Server product ?

I can see reference to this setting on windows 11 under gpedit - path:
Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Temporary folders with the setting being Do not use temporary folders per session

I am not sure if there is any other place in the group policy where that can also be configured
