Plex dance no workie

I’ve done the dance often enough to know the steps. I even bought a new silk shirt and shaved my chest.

After 3 dances… the results remain the same. See the screen shots.

Just in case your dance instructor had a few steps mixed up…
i asked the question here: What is the correct way to Plex Dance? where the inventor of the Dance responded with the reasons it has to be done that way

So Empty Trash first, then Clean Bundles

I’ve learned from the best and have kept my steps in the right place at the right time.

Maybe I need to throw on my mint green leisure suit?

Batman outright refuses to leave the library. Perhaps my future holds something unforeseen for me?

Maybe you need a disco ball and strobe lights for effect.
… was hoping for an easy solution

You forgot the modulated lasers, galvanometers with attached mirrors, and the smoke machine too!

Now to business

With the media completely removed, library updated, trash emptied, and bundles cleaned (having waited for each to complete before advancing to the next step), what does the library show?

It appears you had formerly the whole drive letter E: added to your tv show library.
Is it possible that your library is still pointing to both E: and E:\TV Shows, but not to E:\TV Shows alone?

Edit your library, go to the ‘Add folders’ tab to find out.

Exactly what you see in the screenshots. :-/

Nope… it’s been “E:\TV Shows” since I installed Plex when it had just forked off of XBMC.

I don’t want to ramble off the main topic but another curious thing came up though. It seems Plex is specifying folders in two different ways.

I have E:/TV Shows and F:\TV Shows2 (this is where I store shows that are relegated to “needs cleaning up” status.)

Why would Plex use a forward slash (web style) on one directory and a backslash on another?

  1. Have you ever created a .plexignore file?
If so, remove any references to no longer existing folders from it.

  2. Try creating a folder named E:\TV Shows\Batman but leave it empty except for a tiny, random txt file.
Then repeat the library update and empty trash.

SOB!

I decided to correct E:/TV Shows to E:\TV Shows and Plex killed the entire library and is creating an all new one from the same folder. If all my watched status is screwed I’ll be tossing a nice 16gb, 12tb octo-core system out the window if anyone wants to drive by and grab parts from it.

If losing watched status makes you want to throw out your computer, I’ll gladly take it.

Sorry buddy you’re out of luck. AMAZINGLY Plex kept my watched status on every show AND… BATMAN IS GONE FINALLY!

Let’s see how it goes when I add the Caped Crusader back in this time. DUN dun DUUNNNN

Welp Batman went back in in a well behaved manner so it seems I get to keep my machine afterall.

Thanks to all of you that tried to help but seems I had to add a few new steps to the Plex Dance to solve my own issues this time around.
