I love the new Plex Dash for iPhone. The one feature I was hoping to find but didn’t was Remote Access Status.
I have several friends/family members that connect to my server on a regular basis. On occasion, my Remote Access connection will drop making my server inaccessible outside my local network and I won’t know it unless one of them contacts me. Being able to verify that connection from my phone would be a great feature for me.
Disconnect from your wifi. If Plex Dash can read the stats of your server, it is externally accessible. If it can’t, well you’ve got your answer.
Workaround: Check out uptimerobot.com. Works like canyouseeme.org, but checks on a scheduled basis (default is 5 minutes). You’re notified via e-mail when contact is lost and when contact is restored. If your mobile carrier has an e-mail to SMS/MMS gateway you can use that e-mail address as well.
