I have Plex set to backup it’s databases every 3 days. Whenever it does so, it deletes the oldest backup that would cause there to be more than 3 backups. This works fine, however I manually zipped a set of backups as I lost a hard drive and wanted to restore the database to that date so I could generate a list of files to re-download. While I was waiting for new hard drives, Plex continued it’s 3 day backups and then deleted the zipped files along with the normal backup once they reach the 3 backup limit. Plex should NOT delete anything but the backups it creates.
Is your zip file named exactly the same as the backup except for the extension? I’m wondering if PMS might be ignoring the extension.
Yes, it was the same, but with 7z as the extension. Deleting anything with the same name, regardless of extension would just be poor coding and I would consider a serious bug.
That was just a guess. I’ll have to check with the devs if that is the case.
