Plex DB Repair tool & Permissions Issues

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639 (now running 1.40.1.8227)
DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 4
DS920+ NAS

@ChuckPa - moved this into it’s own thread as per your suggestion.

I was on 1.32.8.7639 and ran your DB Repair tool from github. After running it, Plex would crash due to permission errors as per its log.

When I looked at the permissions I saw this before the upgrade:

And this after the upgrade:

I followed your directions on your git to the letter, but perhaps there is something unusual with my Plex install?

I can’t recall exactly how old my Plex install is…it’s possible that it migrated over from my old DS418Play when I upgraded to a DS920+ about a year ago. Honestly, I cant recall. However, I have had no issues with this install for well over a year (except that weird timezone DVR bug that came up last year and was fixed in later PMS builds).

I could get Plex Server to run by applying chmod 777 to those files.

However, I run snapshot replication so at present, I just rolled back to yesterday’s snapshot, didn’t run the DB Repair tool, and then upgraded to 1.40. Everything is fine on 1.40.1.8227 as best I can tell.

However, I guess something about my install is weird given your comments and perhaps incompatible with your DB Repair tool.
