How do you do this ? Do you copy the directory to ram disk before launch of Plex Media Server ? The Plex Media Server databases are permanent files and not transient files.
Iām using ImDisk. The ramdisk is created on startup with Windows and loads itās last state from a directory, then Plex loads with user account (for the HW acceleration). When windows shutsdown it saves the state into the folder. Iāve also got a scheduled task to save the state every hour in case thereās an unexpected shutdown.
Can you share more information about how the ImDisk state is saved?
Raw block copies donāt guarantee consistent database image files.
Unless the database is locked prior to copying it/backing it up thereās a good chance new data was written/removed during the copy making the database corrupted.
I donāt know the specifics of how it works, but by state I mean it has an option to synchronize (copy files from the ramdisk folder back to the folder it loaded from). On a clean shutdown Plex does not have the database open as it is stopped by the user logoff process before the time it syncs.

Yea, if Plex is shut down when this happens youāre good to go.

It is possible that this hourly state snapshots impact the operation of Plex Media Server. The development team did say that a thread seems to be stuck in sqlite code. Of course any factors that slow down the Plex Media Server code may lead to build up of requests
I tryed 1.24.3.5033 and the CPU usage of the PMS exe skyrocketed and freezed the server once 6-7 clients connected, with number of sessions 150+.
What is the most stable version now? 1.24.2.4973?
Yea, Iām getting random deadlocks with Version 1.24.5.5160.
Iāve been getting deadlocks again recently as well. Was doing well back in September on 1.24.2.4973 with no deadlocks but seems like thereās been regression in the recent releases.
On 10/23/2021, downgraded from 1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee to 1.24.2.4973-2b1b51db9. Going to see if it deadlocks this weekend.
Thatās super strange. It was āstableā the last couple of months, but since a week Iām again having issuesā¦ Nothing changed on my side. Itās depressing
Downgrading to 1.24.2.4973 did not help, I am still getting issues with deadlocks almost nightly. So frustrating.

Same issues for me on any version newer than 1.22.3.4523. 1.24.5.5173 would create a hung connection for nearly every session and would crash out Plex within an hour. 1.24.2.4973 was better, just a stuck connection every now and then, but it would still consume all the CPU in the server eventually and require a restart of the container.
@sa2000 Do you know why Live TV & DVR is deadlocking again? Thereās definitely another serious problem.

@ljunkie I believe the Roku client (since the live tv change) is causing servers to deadlock. Reason I think this is because before the change the servers wernāt locking up but now they do multiple times per day since the changesā¦ even on server versions that were once stable.
There are users that connect to my server that use the Roku client but the ones in our house are a Shield and a Chromecast. Latest deadlocks appeared to be from either an iOS client or me testing with the web client in Firefox. I ended up reverting back to a known good version before anyone else could connect after seeing stuck connections showing up with those clients.
I have users who are Roku users that Iāve noticed some of them having a lot of connections open edin the /connections page(like 30+). I usually text them and ask them to reboot their roku and the numbers of connections usually go down.
While I can see there still a handful of peeps having this issue, I am happy that I have not had this issue now for almost 3 months, I have managed to leave it full unattended now for over a month and have had no reports at all about it deadlocking or anything else
