Plex-desktop 1.59.1 audio volume slider no longer working

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364
Player Version#: 1.59.1

After performing snap refresh from 1.58 to 1.59 the audio volume control slider has stopped working. Reverted back to 1.58.

Same issue here on LInux.

Also under Settings → General when I check “Automatically sign in” then click “Save” it just sits there with a spinning circle.

Same issue
Server Version#: 1.30.0.6486
Player Version#: 1.59.1.3398-deb42972 Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (codename: jammy)

Well, it gets worse. They just released 1.60.1 and now the slider is working, but it doesn’t affect the sound levels. This is why I hate snaps. If I could see the changes that were made, maybe I could help, or at the least understand their goal. I’m guessing this is in an attempt to implement support for pipewire. If that is the case, if they could announce that from release X to however long they wish, that audio might be affected and that they would announce when they believe it is finished. So that those of using the product might hold off. Or, better yet, implement these items in a beta channel before implementing into the stable channel. Staying at 1.58 for now.

So, another new version 1.61.1 dropped and still doing the same. ChuckPA, if you see this, could you chime in?

Same thing here:
Ubuntu 22.04.
Snap version 1.62.2.3451 (new version upgraded in the last couple of days)
X Windows (not Wayland)
PulseAudio

I also notice that if I try to select the audio card specifically (changing it from “Auto select device”) under Settings → Plex For Linux → Player and I click “Save Changes” button, a busy “spinning circle” icon presents over the button which never resolves. Not sure if that is related, but it is interesting.

I can replicate that as well and continue to revert to 1.58 to keep a functional client. I wish someone from plex would chime in on this as well.

This is true. Volume control slider is fubar.

Can still control volume using other methods.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Plex. So much so that I just became a Lifetime Plex Pass member ( a few minutes ago). However, I have paid Plex a couple hundred dollars over the years - I would love to have someone at Plex respond whether this is a known issue or not. Please respond!

As the stable snap version has updated to 1.62 and issue still persists, I had to use edge snap version 1.47 for plex-desktop

I’m seeing this too. Plex for Linux, 1.62.2.3451.

The in-app volume and mute toggles don’t actually impact the volume at all.

Ubuntu 22.10.

@ChuckPa believe your an Linux user, can you help at all please?

1.63.2.3496-dcd49879 snap still has broken volume slider.

Yes, issue it still ongoing :frowning:

Yep, same here. I hope someone is actually seeing this report.

Hi all,

I’ve reproduced the issue and reported it internally. The relevant team is aware of the problem and will investigate what’s going on. Apologies for the delay getting to this thread, I appreciate your patience.

The problem appears to now be fixed. For the record, this is just one of the reasons I don’t like SNAPs. The problem was there and hard to avoid as the automatic update kept trying to overlay with newer versions which also exhibited the same problem. Unfortunately with snap, if you aren’t on top of this, the deployment of multiple versions means you may not be able to return to a functioning version.

Thank you for correcting it.
