I am new to NAS’s and recently purchases a Terra-Master F4-421 to store my video library. From the installation, the HDD has folders set up entitled ‘admin’, ‘appsdata’, and ‘public’. I am using Windows 10, and have the ‘public’ folder mapped as a network drive. In that folder, I have my media organized as:
/public/My Videos
/Movies
/TV Shows
I have Plex Media Server installed on both my PC and the NAS. I can use the Plex app on all my devices and access all of my media from the library linked to the network drive.
What I am trying to do is set up Plex to access the NAS directly, as opposed to going through my computer, and be able to access my Plex media files remotely. Plex recognizes the NAS as server, ‘TNAS-00254D’. When I try to add my media folders as a library under this server, Plex doesn’t seem to see the 3 folders on my NAS HDD. I click Add Library, select Movies, select Add Folders, and then Browse for Media Folder. The only folders are as follows:
plex
/
md0
Library
tmp_transcoding
I’m not even sure where these folders actually are, because I don’t see them on the NAS.
Can someone please provide some guidance as to how I would go about properly setting up my library for remote, direct access to my Terra-Master NAS?
I’m not familiar with the specifics of Terra-Master. On other NAS platforms installing Plex also creates a local plex user account. This account needs to have access to the share in which you store your media files.
From what I could find in the forum, the “public” share should be be reflected in the file system under /mnt/md0/public/
I have a F2-210, I added my media files to the public folder but when I setup the folder, and did a scan library, it doesn’t show any of the files. Did you experience this as well?
I did experience that a couple of times, until I used the naming conventions that Plex recommend. For movies, I just search for the title on IMDB.com and then copy and paste the title/year the way it comes up. Plex has picked up on those just fine.
For TV shows, you need to make sure you have the show title and then the season/episode in “… S1E1” format. Also, don’t forget to have subfolders for each season number.
that is the naming convention I was using too. I am currently using Plex as well, but the server is directly on the laptop not on my F2-210. I am trying to configure the Plex to use F2-210 as the server.
