I would like you guys to be able to have Discord integration. I mean in the same way that Spotify currently does this. I realize this maybe a feature I should suggest to Discord, however the post about it has no traction. So I think it would be something that you would have to communicate to Discord about. It seems simple enough to do.
They have webhooks now so just need someone to code some bots for discord.
nice would be to have a bot post currently playing content. or post to a channel every time new content is added to server.
Here’s a plex-discord-webhook
Otherwise:
-
Tautulli can post to a Discord channel regarding user/server activity and new content.
-
For maintaining a currently playing message, see Tauticord.
-
For playing music from Plex in a Discord voice channel, see plex-discord-bot
Haven’t looked into bots that actually use Plex’s webhook functionality, but the Slack integration in the examples can be used to post to Discord; just add “/slack” to the end of your Discord webhook URL and anything that works with Slack webhooks will work with Discord! e.g. if your webhook URL, copied directly from Discord, is https://discordapp.com/api/webhooks/652655711111544458/hoRQFG111113m11111TgMF2GpYiq0LpWOlbbo6E-8dAZQ11111bbHQ_DQXcA11111WIK
, then enter this for the Slack integration: https://discordapp.com/api/webhooks/652655711111544458/hoRQFG111113m11111TgMF2GpYiq0LpWOlbbo6E-8dAZQ11111bbHQ_DQXcA11111WIK/slack
and you’re good!
This is not really what he was asking for, the Plex Media Player needs to implement Rich Presence on its own to have an activity in discord showing on the User profile there is an sdk provided by Discord to do so
There’s also the Plex Discord Rich Presence App which does exactly this. A native implementation would be still preferred because no additional software would be needed.
That app is nice but is a bit unstable, which a native implementation should fix.
I currently use “phineas05/discord-rich-presence-plex” with a scheduled task that launches this program at startup.
Plex Team, we’re still waiting for this feature natively ^^.
I’d love for something like this as well. I’ve just recently switched to using Tidal for my music and using Plex amp on my desktop for music. It’d be nice to have a Spotify-like integration so I can show it off!
Came to the forums to find out if integration with Discord exists and found this thread. I too would like native Discord integration. Specifically, I would love it for use with Plexamp. This would be a simple way to advertise Plex online. If someone sees that I, a regular person like them, is using Plex, then perhaps they will start thinking about using Plex too. Maybe even show the sampling rate and bitrate of my music, to show off to other audiophiles that Plexamp is a great way to listen to music.
Got my vote. I would also like to see the ability to invite people on discord to watch together. Just like how Spotify does it.
This is what Spotify invite integration looks like on discord:
And this is what Plex invite integration could look like on discord:
Hello, I would love to suggest adding an integration with the Discord App. It would be cool to show what Movie/Tv Show/Video is playing on the discord App. They do have an API for developers to use. It would be cool to show friends and others what show you are currently watching and maybe how long in the video/show you are and the episode. I know it is aimed at Game developers but I think Plex could still take advantage of this cool feature they have added.
Rich Presence API: Build on Discord
This would be nice!
2018 and still no update. Dang.
2019 and still no update. Dang.
someone made one here you go Reddit - Dive into anything
Would still love this feature!
Wow! 6 years strong and still nothing. I know other posts have been made, though I’m hoping the feature request gets further consideration. Rich Presence, account linking/connection would be great, though since Plex doesn’t offer native support, it’d also be nice for official Discord integration for text, audio chat for Watch Together sessions. Allow the server owner an option to link a Discord server (usually their own) that they have access to and allow assigning a channel that gets linked to watch together sessions for text or voice chat during Watch Together sessions.
I’m astonished this isn’t more popular.
This should be a slam dunk - Discord’s API makes RPC integration really really easy. A Connections
section can be added to the Account settings section of the Plex app to allow users to login with their Discord accounts so a token can be obtained and used by Plex. This probably wouldn’t even take a week of dev time, including QA.
Plex shouldn’t really bother pursuing this unless they can make it look like playing “MUSIC” instead of playing a game “Plex” or something stupid like many plugins already can do.
It just looks tacky otherwise.
There’s so many other suggestions, but I wish this would go up higher
