Plex download forcing transcode and then transcoder crashes on remote networks

Player Version#: android: 9.0.6.31998 and windows: 1.43.4.2971-aa2133cc

I have 2 LANs at home. plex can be accessed from the internet just fine I configured everything. downloading from the same LAN as the server works fine but when trying to download from the other LAN or the internet this happens.

As you can see I have original quality selected so it shouldn’t transcode

so transcoding starts and then it stops and I get this on my devices

I have port 32400 forwarded and playing directly or transcoding media while streaming works fine its just the downloads that are not working.

My suspicion is that because its coming from a different lan, it doesn’t see it as being on the lan, which is forcing it to go out to the internet and back in.

What OS are you using for the server?

linuxservers docker
and it does see it as lan. i added my other network here

both of my routers are pfsense.

So, I only see one network there, a /24 which in this case is 192.168.0.xxx. Am I missing something? Sorry, on my phone so it’s hard to see things that might otherwise jump out at me.

Make sure you list both the plex network as well as this one shown here. Restart plex service/daemon after change to be sure it’s applied, I’ve. It not messed with docker much myself, which is another area to look at.

• TCP: 32400 (access to the Plex Media Server) [required] this is what I forward and it works fine I can stream to the 192.168.0.0/24 network and thru the internet just fine. (plex is in 192.168.1.0/24 network)

btw I just tried downloading from a friend’s plex server as well and it doesn’t work. tried on the ios app doesn’t work there too.

seems like plex broke download again
