Plex - DSM 7 - Crash investigation

Hello! I’m back with more crashes… @ChuckPa as per your advice a couple weeks ago:

  • I checked my network settings and everything seems to be configured correctly on my router and in DSM.
  • I double checked that library scanning and optimizing is enabled. I also used “Optimize Database” feature under Troubleshooting.

I’m not sure where to go from here. Any advice will be appreciated.

You forgot –

There are no debugging statements in the logs.

Care to give it another try ?

(leaving DEBUG on doesn’t consume more space. Logs are a fixed size)

Yes sir! I will upload new logs when it crashes again. Thank you!

@Pe8er

I have moved us to our own thread here to keep the main clear
as well as keep this effort uncluttered.

Got new logs for you!

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-10-21_08-08-31.zip (2.1 MB)

Thank you.

I will see if one of the team (who specializes in crash analysis) will come look)

@Pe8er

Would you now please go to Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced.

Uncheck the box “Send Crash Reports to Plex” and save it.

When it next crashes, the DMP file will be on your system instead of uploaded.

PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/Crash Reports/PLEX MEDIA SERVER//

You’ll see a .dmp file.

Please make a ZIP of that file and upload it here along with the current Logs ZIP file.

Could you see if you can find a filename 5ba4ed4d-7c5f-4ee8-79e8f49c-477ce4e1 - it may or may not have a filename extension

The file should have got moved to the Plex Media Server tmp directory
/var/packages/PlexMediaServer/shares/PlexMediaServer/AppData/tmp/

if you find the file - please zip it and attach here

Unrelated to the issue:

You have syntax error in the server network advanced setting
List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth

You have an invalid character between '192.168.1 and 255.255.255.0

Please refer to the support article for the syntax and examples
Network | Plex Support

Duh, you’re right. Thank you for spotting it! Just set it to 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0

Found it, here you go: 5ba4ed4d-7c5f-4ee8-79e8f49c-477ce4e1.zip (260.1 KB)

Uploading the DMP file. Sorry for multiple posts, I’m very disorganized this morning.

Thank you - The crash was in the Music Sonic Analysis code. I have referred it to the development team - there may be a fix already on its way. I will let you know once the fix is released

Thank you. it is a similar crash

Makes sense, now I realize crashing began around the time when Sonic Analysis became available. Thank you for finding out! Crossing fingers for a fix.

The fix for this Sonic Analysis crash has been released in the latest beta - Plex Media Server 1.25.0.5220

See Release Notice

  • (Music) Rebuilding sonic indexes could result in crashes.
