Plex DVR Advanced settings keep going back to Keep=All Episodes and Delete after watching=Never

I keep running out of space on my TV shows drive. When I look for the problem, it keeps showing my advanced DVR settings are getting lost and reset to defaults. I want to keep the last 3 episodes and have it delete episodes a day after I watch them. I am the only user on the system, so it’s not a user account issue. I’m using my Mac as the Plex Media Server with the latest updates and watching episodes on my Apple TV 4K. believe this is some kind of PMS on Mac issue with DRV recordings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with the same results. Looking for assistance.

There are settings for this both at the DVR level, and the library level. Are they both set up the same? You’ll need to go into the show and edit it in the library to check those settings.

Under Live TV & DVR, I click on an upcoming recording. I choose Modify Recording, then Show Advanced. Scroll down to KEEP: 3 episodes and DELETE EPISODES AFTER PLAYING: after a day.

Under Libraries - TV Shows, I click on the same show as above, then select edit. Choose the Advanced tab and I see the exact same information.

At some point, the settings I have made are blown away and go back to KEEP: All Episodes and Never Delete. I believe this may be happening when the PMS software updates itself on the Mac. My current update software setting says Automatically during scheduled maintenance. On Plex Server Settings - Scheduled Tasks, all items are checked. I have a window of 2 AM to 7AM setup.

Hmmm, that sounds a bit odd. Perhaps disable the automatic updates, and do the next one manually. If you could grab PMS logs just after the upgrade, that would be great!

@madtownplexfan - did you resolve this issue? I am getting the same behavior. Running the latest version of PMS and all clients. Trying to remember when this started happening - maybe around the time you first posted (June 2019).

This only happens with some shows I record, not all. I believe the KEEP and DELETE settings are reset to defaults every night (during maintenance?). The reset to defaults is not related to a PMS software update or a client update.

Did this ever get resolved. I am having the same issue
