PLEX DVR Recording is extremely inconsistent - HDHomerun Connect

Only about a quarter of the shows that I have tried to record have recorded anything at all, and of those that record, less than half record for the full amount of time. Most are only recording for 1-2 minutes and then stop recording.

If I watch live TV with the HDHomeRun app, it works fine.

How do I go about checking PLEX logs to see what is going on with the recordings, and what can I do to increase the reliability of the Plex DVR?

Anyone have any ideas?

Check the signal strength shown in the tuner status page for the HDHR. Might need to start several recordings to see the signal strength. Tuner only shows information when a stream is active on the tuner.

Yes…this happened to me when my amp on my antenna was turned off so pbs was too weak to record…also look at drive space issues

did you just upgrade to plex 1.7.x ? There have been many reported issues with 1.7.x and recording getting messed up or not recording properly. There have been alot of people telling you to check signal strength and all sorts of stuff , have you tried downgrading your plex to 1.6.1.x and see if your problem goes away. Also are you on the latest version of Hdhomerun prime that was posted a few days ago or has anything else changed between time your recordings were good vs bad?

I second this…I had exactly the problem you are talking about after I went to 1.7.x (along with many other issues). At first I thought it had to do with signal strength, even though I’d not had a problem with this in the past. When I switched back to 1.6.x the problems disappeared.

I have issues since upgrading to version 1.7.x, HD HomeRun Connect works fine, 100% signal with both turners working. Maybe only 2-3mins of each recording before it cans.

Plex, you guys need logs or what can help with fixing the issue?

Signal strength is usually around 100% most of the time I check either tuner. Signal quality can vary quite a bit, from 10-80%, depending on the day, channel, etc.

Drive space on the Plex server is fine.

I did not have my HDHR Connect until I was already on 1.7.x. I did see that 1.7.5.4035 was just released today. I’ll try that out and see if there is any change. If not, I’ll try going back to 1.6.x.

The 1.7.5.4035 update does not seem to have fixed anything. Where can I get the 1.6.x PMS installer? I haven’t been able to find it anywhere.
