Hi
I’ve been using the Plex DVR, very happy with the results, but the one really annoying thing is that on android tv, the video doesn’t play unless I switch the quality down and force plex to transcode.
The quality takes a dip (native 1080p only gives options for a 4mbps 720p stream), without it all I get it a still frame and audio.
On the overlay text, it says…
Video: Direct
Audio: Transcode
Size 960x540
Transcode Reason : Container (mpegts) not supported
Which is odd because the video doesn’t play and the image size is way less than the native 1080p file.
The recording is done in the UK, over freeview HD, from BBC 4. The file notes say its 1080p, AAC_LATM, Stereo.
I would dearly love to see this issue fixed.
Thanks
Plex dev have confirmed that the problem has been acknowledged and they’re looking at a fix. Apparently there are some video streams that can’t seek and these should be transcoded - but they’re not.
I have my files remuxed on my Nvidia Shield TV and the transcoding isn’t helped. At this point the only successful workaround is to use the Plex add-on in Kodi. The files direct play without issue and it is a much better experience than I have been having trying to get the Plex App on my Shield to play it.
I’m having the same issue with the latest Plex beta. Recorded shows really can’t be seeked at all without the interface hanging. I’ve tried both the web interface and the native Win 10 app.
