Plex DVR: "There was a transcoder error" appears each time I attempt to record on any channel.

Have you checked the Plex knowledge base and searched on the sub and Google? Yes

Server version: 1.9.6.4401 (current)

OS: Docker - Ubuntu? (mandreko-pms-docker)

What did you do? Installed docker, pulled the image, added a few variables (to define user, group, and storage), then fired up Plex.

What happened? Everything worked great except the DVR. For no apparent reason, I’m unable to record because a transcoder error appears each time I attempt to record a show.

What are your (relevant) settings? Transcode during recording is off. The plex user has ownership of and full read/write access to all media folders and to the configuration/library folder. There is no transcode directory defined, so the docker defaults to transcoding internally. That shouldn’t be a problem.

Logs (debug) attached. I have verbose available as well.

I’ve experienced this before and restarting the player and the server will sometime fix it. If that doesn’t work, try a fresh install.

Fixed.

I have no idea what the problem was, but your suggestion worked. I kept all permissions, library, etc. intact and just reinstalled Plex. Changing ZERO settings and doing no configuration, I somehow have a working install this time. I thought computers were supposed to have 100% repeatability…
