Plex DVR Update for Australia EPG - Australian EPG - XML Data Provider

Thanks @BigAlzy about the same we are seeing for all the cities. Have scheduled and all sorted ready to go.

I’m using the yourtv.pl script but noticed for certain shows when selecting to record a show and selecting all new airing only, in the plex “Recordings” schedule it doesn’t show in the calendar view & in the priority list it shows as no upcoming episode. However, if I select new & repeat then it is added and you can see it in Recordings.

BTW thanks Markcs for your awesome work.

Chiming in to say thanks to @markcs and others this is working quite well windows 8.1 install, yourtv.pl

Can you give an example?

I’m pretty sure Bluey is considered ‘a repeat’. You can see that from the yourtv webiste.

Postcards seems to air the same episode a number of times during the week and only Sundays are the ‘original’ episode (so should be the only one that is recorded if you’ve set Plex up for New Airings Only). I’d need to check, but can’t see why the xml would be wrong in this case.

That makes sense.
All good, you don’t need to look into it any further.

Thanks.

You might want to try the “threaded” branch and install Furl
see if that speeds up the creation for you
got this stable last night and seeing 21 second runs for the second run (after the cache is built.)

Regards,

Michelle

@bridjee has put links up a site with regularly updated xml files for Australian users. Thanks!

Also, i had the same issue a lot of others had recently “Unable to load DVRs”. I had to do the trick where you close/restart Plex server and then quickly go into the Live TV & DVR settings to delete the previous setup before it disappears. Where i got stuck
i was able to delete 1 of my 2 tuners
but then there was no X to delete the last one which still left everything broken. I did the same restart trick but this time i selected “Delete DVR” which deletes everything. I tried this multiple times but didn’t work until i rushed from fresh boot up, must be a short window while the Live TV & DVR settings are still working.

I wanted to share some insight to others having this issue

a colleague at my work has the same NAS and has been running the latest version of Plex server (v1.6.1.1291) on the NAS (Asustor AS6404T, ADM v3.3.2 RJ12).

Two days ago he purchased the HDHomeRun DUO (mine is the Quattro, but otherwise our setup is identical).

He was able to successfully setup the DVR with an XML feed.

The above tells me that the issue is, as someone else posted, related to users who had a DVR setup PRIOR TO upgrading Plex to one of the recent 1.6.x versions.

Is it correct to presume that Plex will be providing a fix, rather than expecting that all affected users will find a way to safely downgrade Plex, delete the old DVR, and then upgrade Plex (without losing meta-data or breaking iTunes plug-in or losing iTunes playlists)?

no, just remove the DVR setting and re-add your tuner - that will allow you to select the XML EPG.

@michellesullivan The DVR setting has been removed, but the process fails when trying to add the tuner back in. It is an issue that the Plex team is aware of. It remains unclear (at least to me) whether or not Plex will fix this known issue or not.

It will be fixed, however we’re still investigating and trying to find the root cause.

Hi @MMF27,

I had the exact same issues (see my previous post), it took my awhile to figure out how to get my tuners back. Basically what has happened is when Plex removed the inbuilt EPG it stuffed our DVR settings giving the “Unable to load DVRs” msg. The reason you can’t add your tuners back is because they are actually already added, you just can’t load them. If you plugged in a brand new tuner right now, I am sure you would be able to add it.

So the key is to remove your previous tuners
but how can you do that when the DVR settings don’t load you ask
The key is to close Plex Media Server (PMS) wait 60sec then start PMS again. Once you start PMS quickly go to your DVR settings, you have a short time while the tuners will actually load (I assume this is before our missing EPG craps it out).

Here is where I was able to hit the X button on one of my tuners and successfully remove it. I was then able to search and add the tuner I successfully removed, but not my other tuner
My DVR settings were still completely stuffed even trying to add this tuner and XMLTV guide. I still needed to remove my other tuner, but there was no X for this tuner as it was the last one. So the last trick was to click ‘Delete DVR’ (top right) quickly after PMS loads fresh otherwise this setting doesn’t show. This completely removed all my tuners/DVR settings and I was fine from here. I assume removing the tuner first wasn’t necessary, deleting the whole DVR setup was the key.

Yes Plex should still fix this issue, but try this work around. Took me a few goes as sometimes it still craps out before you get a chance to remove them. Be quick!

Hi @DaveBinM,

Hopefully my post above ^ helps you determine the root cause. I found this workaround from the good community in this forum.

We’d need someone still in the state where the old DVR is around, before they’ve been removed in order to get to the bottom of it.

Am on latest version. DVR just there shortly after reboot. Having the issue. Did neither downgrade nor delete anything. I am on Plex on Synology.

Thanks for the detailed advice @D1Vad I was hopeful that this would work. Is your setup on a NAS?

Unfortunately, after two attempts of turning off the PMS for 1 minute, then back on, when I go to Manage Live TV & DVR in settings, I get the page “Introducing Live TV & DVR” and no longer does that page display at the bottom “Unable to load DVRs” (it used to but no longer shows that) and my DVR doesn’t appear. When I click [Setup Plex DVR], it does not find my HD HomeRun Connect Qattro, so I enter the local IP address and click [Connect], and still nothing happens, so I click [Continue] at which point the DVR setup page appears (and at no point have I seen the option to ‘Delete DVR’), select Australia then [Continue] onto the channel mappings page, hit [Continue] again, to then watch the eternally spinning [Continue] button (ie. the same problem originally reported).
