I have been a plex pass subscriber for 4 or so years now and loved watching all the new effort going into plex.
It truly has evolved into a great product.
However, i have a number of NUC’s that i purchased solely for Plex Embedded as its a great device and just works. I am so disappointed that it appeas the embedded player has been axed. Or am missing something?
Its enough of a reason to cancel my ongoing Plex subscription and just pay for Netflix or something else instead and use the free Plex apps.
Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: PMP Embedded (Not sure what version)
Latest version was April 2020 but you may not want to be on the latest update as you also might need an update on your server as well, but that’s up to you. Edit: I’m on the beta channel for Plex server so disregard my comment on upgrading your server.
I just installed this “PlexMediaPlayer-2.55.0.1052-dffa7188.RPi2-arm.img.gz” from the latest nightlies (april) on to a raspberry pi 3B+.
Im a Complete Pi Noob but it seemes to be installed however where is the setting to connect to Wifif?
I can get plex to work with ethernet cable. It even automatically sees my Justbook Dac Hat which works and i can Cast to it from my phone or any other plex player on the network YAY.
Although i plan to run the Pi as a headless audio player it currently displays white text showing the plex/device info over the UI…
AND of course without WiFi i cannot use this where I plant to use it.
Ok so found some help elsewhere and managed to get wifi working via ssh without creating a config file using below.
connmanctl
agent on
scan wifi
services
connect wpa_your_network_psk
Sooo. Although Plex Embedded worked well, it appears its built on a read only Libre Elec Build. This didn’t suit me as I cannot install the rotary encoder for volume without the ability to be able to write to the os to install stuff. Apart from this it worked flawlessly
So I’ve scrapped the embedded idea and gone for plexamp for Pi (beta) as I only require this for music.
Lots of hair pulling and frustration due to my lack of knowledge and no one place with all the info… but managed to get it working (installs on top of Latest Raspberry Pi Os), volume encoder and all. YAY.
Now im building myself a nice DIY amp (gainclone) to go with this DIY streamer and my DIY speakers
