Plex Fireside in the Forum 2024

OK, I see the issue. That doesn’t happen to me but there are some genres that I would like to filter out too. Interviews, Skits, and Commentary, for example. They rarely show up in the radio stations for me but I still never want to hear them. My feature wish is a place in settings to add genres that will always be skipped in all playback.

Why is the Tidal integration ending? Did Tidal initiate this?

Will have to echo that above wanting to know why this is happening at all.

Will there be something to replace Tidal for PlexAmp?
Qobuz looks interesting.

Edit:
Saw now that it was Tidal that initiated this whole mess.
They really hurt themselves as their own software doesn’t have a decent UI.

yes

There is not anything on the immediate horizon and I don’t want to make any false promises

That’s fair.
Hopefully something (like Qobuz :stuck_out_tongue: ) can be added down the line.

I still like PlexAmp.
Was using it before Tidal was an option and will be using it after.

Hello, I have experienced Live TV DVR recording a program abruptly stopping in the middle of the recording. Sometimes it’s after a few minutes. Sometimes after 18 minutes. Sometimes after a few seconds. Sometimes the program records to the very end. There is no consistency to the DVR deciding to stop recording. I know this has been a problem for years b/c of the amount of Reddit posts on the subject. The immense logs are no help b/c there is not a standout record in them saying “Recording stopped because of .”, that I can see. If this was the case, I would think the reasoning would be accessible in the DVR Schedule recording slot.

In any case, is there some explanation as to why premature recording stoppage happens and how we could easily figure it out through messaging and logs on our server? Thank you.

I just noticed that my casted Series did not show up on the plex dashboard. I was even able to reproduce this.
Is this intended behaviour? Server is on Windows, Cast initiated by the Plex App on Android, Playback was on a Chromecast 3rd gen.

Hi, I’ve would like to know if the movie’s (or show’s) logos are in the todo list on the preplay page ?

a big plus would also be to be able to export the posts without scripts (automatically after adding a movie for example)

Another quick question, will the Dolby Vision information be displayed on the pre-play page?

Thanks

Easy, reliable, LAN-only play is the absolute most vital Defcon 1 global thermonuclear super crazy funtime important issue for me. And many others, I would imagine.

Oh, yes, more info on why a program either failed to record, or why it stopped recording would be great. I happened to be watching a show right when the nightly news came on and the client helpfully (lol) informed me that “Recording Failed” with a corner popup that lasted 3 seconds. On manually restarting the record, it succeeded and finished completely, so I have no idea how to find out why it failed.

I’m very interested on this.
Thank you very much.

Can the subtitle offset adjustment be changed to 500ms instead of 50ms?
Currently if the subtitles are off by 10 seconds you have to press 200 times to get it synced up.

Hi. First of all, I want to express just how much I appreciate that you guys are doing stuff like this to keep in touch with the community. In this day and age where everything we buy seems to be purposely becoming worse and getting even further disconnected from customers, I’m glad that Plex is standing out as the exception. This is an awesome gesture that you’re doing for the community and I hope we can continue to see more like it.

I have a few questions.

  1. Earlier today, it was announced that Tidal would be ending its integration with Plex in a few months. I, like many other Plexamp users, am greatly disappointed by this, because Plexamp with Tidal has enabled discovery of new music like nothing else I’ve ever used. So many features were made even better with Tidal’s huge library. I hope a replacement for Tidal can be put into place as soon as possible. My question is: will the removal of Tidal integration impact or further delay the long-anticipated Plexamp v5 release? I think I speak for a lot of Plexamp users when I say we’ve been waiting for this update for a long time, so it’d be great to hear some kind of update on when we can expect it, even if it’ll be a little bit longer.
  2. Can you tell us anything about what new features are planned for Plexamp? I feel like it’d be nice for us to have something to look forward to right now.

P.S.: This next thing isn’t a question, but I saw some others in this thread ask for features like credits for multiple artists on a track, support for singles, and alias names for artists. Just wanted to say that I heavily vouch for the addition of these features, especially aliases. Some tracks and albums in my library have the artist’s names in their native scripts where others don’t, and they show up as different artists, which is frustrating. So it’d be nice to link the different aliases together under a single artist, using alias data from MusicBrainz.

Hey @tdeverx !!! Thanks for the question. Without giving anything away, we definitely have some UI/UX updates coming! Can’t say too much more than this right now, but the good news is that there won’t be too much of a wait here!

Yeah the questions and comments around metadata have kicked off even more discussion internally this week. I know that we routinely keep an eye on the forums and places like reddit for references to incorrect metadata and correct it when it is identified. But that is a game of whack-a-mole. I honestly don’t know how much we will be able to improve - but I do know that we have some very smart people here (much smarter than me) that are thinking through and working on it!

No, I don’t know of any efforts in this area. Doesn’t mean that someone isn’t working on it somewhere, just that I don’t have any visibility into any current projects here.

I will pass this along to the metadata team here. Thanks!

The engineer in me wants to challenge the “truly impossible” comment here since with enough time and money engineers cam build pretty much anything  But let me put this one to bed. There is nothing currently in the works here and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Thanks for the comments @snortingkfc !!

As noted in this support article: Customizing the Big Screen Apps

The order of pinned items in your home sidebar will control the order of the content on your Home screen. By default, items in your sidebar will be arranged with sources from your preferred server listed first, followed by other sources located in the More section. You can adjust the order of pinned content while editing the sidebar. Access that using the Edit option in the sidebar.

So you do have a bit of control here, but I acknowledge the frustration since pinning Discover carries those along without options and I will pass along the feedback to the UX team. Thanks for joining us in the Fireside!

Thank you very much to the Plex team for the annual Fireside event, I think it’s fantastic!

I appreciate last year’s Fireside event, and I’m excited that the playback speed control feature mentioned has finally been implemented in subsequent versions.

I have a small suggestion for improving the user experience: Could the playback speed control settings be moved to the main menu, specifically to the playback control bar (at the same level as play, fast forward, etc.), rather than being hidden under “More”? In fact, I’ve noticed that the current playback control bar already displays the speed multiplier in the bottom left corner, so perhaps clicking on the speed multiplier area could bring up an option to select different playback speeds.

Thanks :grinning:

I don’t think we’d ever want to do that, since it would reduce the granularity available when making adjustments. If your current subtitles are really 10 seconds off, then you might actually be better off getting a different/better subtitle file. You could always make use of the on-demand subtitle search functionality.

Now, all that being said, we do also have some other work in this area of subtitle timing in progress. No specifics to share just yet, but we think folks might find it pretty exciting once it’s ready to release.
