If you would like to add a plugin to the list of options, reply to the thread with the name of the plugin and the current problem you'd like to see solved, or improvement you'd like to see added. If there is an existing thread in the regular forums, feel free to add a link in your post to point developers in the right direction.
I will try to maintain this as an orderly and up-to-date list of "problem" plugins as reported by PlexPass subscribers, to provide some guidance to plugin developers on how to allocate time spent fixing plugins.
-Update Oct 5th, 2013-
The NHL channel (for GameCenter subscribers) is currently awaiting approval for the Channel Directory. In the meantime, it's available via the Unsupported Appstore. Since it's ready and (essentially) released into the wild, I'm removing it from the voting options.
-Update Sep 11th, 2013-
A few updates to report. First off, those of you that care, likely already know that the BBC iPlayer channel has been rewritten and re-released and no longer relies on webkit, thanks to meo. That provides a couple benefits. Primarily, it is a lot more reliable and should work across virtually all (up-to-date) versions of PMS and Plex clients on any platform. For that reason, I'm removing BBC iPlayer from the UK Channel voting options.
For the sports lovers out there, 41John has released a great update to his NFL Videos channel, now available via the Channel Directory. It does not cover NFL Sunday Ticket so, I guess I'll leave that on the Sports Channel voting options for now.
Also in the sports category, thanks to adriandb for setting me up with access, I will soon be releasing a rewritten NHL GameCenter channel. Live Game support is not yet in place and will likely have to wait until the preseason starts but the rest of the channel is shaping up nicely. Keep watching for future updates.
-Update Aug 1st, 2013-
Apparently, it's not possible to add "optional" questions. So, since it's necessary to vote on each question before being able to submit your votes, I've added an option to the extra questions for "Don't care". Those votes will be ignored.
-Update July 30th, 2013-
I'm happy to say that ReallyFuzzy has returned with an update to the ITV channel. You can find the forum thread and link to the download here. It's currently a preliminary release but the playback experience should already be miles ahead of the old version for most users. With enough constructive feedback from users, this has the potential to really fill a void for the UK users.
-Update July 29th, 2013-
As per the previous update, I'm trying to maintain a manageable poll. I had to lump the UK-content channels together in their own question to make a little more room. If UK content is important to you, make sure to vote for those channels as a group and then vote in question 5 for the one that is most important.
-Update July 12th, 2013-
With as many write-in votes as we're getting, the list was getting pretty unmanageable. Since we're only allowed a maximum of 20 options per question, I've done some re-organizing. There are several specific categories of plugins which have numerous requests and were dominating a number of available voting options. Now, if users feel strongly about wanting support for some kind of 'TV Tuner' or 'Sports' or 'Music' plugin, they can vote for that type in the first question and vote for the specific option in the follow-up question(s). This re-organization has made room for a lot of new additions to the list that have been written-in over the last several months.
-Update July 11th, 2013-
Since a meo was kind enough to create a plugin for Filmon.com (available in the forum thread, here), I'm removing Filmon from the list of poll options.
-Update April 15th, 2013-
I apologize for the extended time between updates here. As some of you know (or have deduced), I took a few months hiatus from Plex channel development. Just a couple brief notes for now:
- A number of you likely noticed that "Airplay support" was quietly removed from the voting list when it was announced that Plex/Home Theater includes Airplay Support.
- As per my previous update, Spotify is now supported on OSX. As such, I'm removing Spotify from the voting list and I will replace it with a cross-platform option for non-OSX Spotify users to vote for if they so choose.
-Update Dec. 13th, 2012-
Those of you following the Spotify plugin thread are likely already aware of this but, i'm happy to report that thanks to the work of tababssman and the triumphant return of Jamie Kirkpatrick, the Spotify plugin lives again. OSX users should be able to install/update the plugin via the Channel Directory. The plugin is (afaik) still OSX only but, I believe that JK is planning on adding wider platform support over time.
-Update Oct 23rd, 2012-
It's been a while since there's been any significant progress to report for the most popular plugins on this list. I assure you, that it's not for a lack of trying. Here are a few updates for the highest voted plugins...
Spotify:
I spent a great deal of time digging in the code of the Spotify plugin. I could not, no matter how I tweaked the code, get around the bug that causes playback to fail near the end of the first track played. I was forced to throw in the towel on this project to protect my sanity. One of the other channel developers mentioned his plans to re-evaluate the Spotify plugin but I have no ETA to report.
Netflix (International):
I researched our options in terms of adding International support for Netflix to the existing (or a new) channel. Unfortunately, there aren't really any options. The problem boils down to this: Outside of the US, Netflix blocks the API that the allows the Plex channel to work. Any attempt to build international functionality by using page-scraping risks having Netflix revoke Plex's API access. That is obviously not something the Plex team are willing to do. Until such time as Netflix opens up their API for use outside the US, our hands are pretty much tied. As such, I'm removing the poll option for Netflix (Outside U.S.) from the voting, until there is at least a reasonable expectation that we might be able to follow through on it. In the meantime, I would suggest that all international Netflix subscribers who would access to Netflix from within Plex, let Netflix know your desires. Developers have been asking for Netflix for International API access for a long time without success. Perhaps, if Netflix hears from enough paying customers, then they will start to listen.
EyeTV:
There is a developer (shirk) working on an EyeTV plugin. The forum thread is [here](http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/27784-eyetv-live-streaming/). I assume most people interested in Plex/EyeTV integration are already familiar with this project but it bears mentioning it here. As I understand, the plugin is not yet ready for primetime but shirk has made great progress.
-Update Sep 29th, 2012-
The rewritten Pandora plugin hit the Channel Directory today, due in large part to the efforts of mmccurdy (a.k.a. The Other Mike M). Please note it requires a paid Pandora "One" (Pro?) account. The Spotify plugin has been hidden from the Channel Directory to minimize frustration for new users who might download it only to discover it doesn't work. Hopefully this is only a temporary measure until it can be made to work properly. However, it is a real mess and the one plugin developer who is familiar with the piles of code involved has been consumed with life outside of Plex plugins.
-Update Sep 25th, 2012-
As of today, the rewritten (and functional) Amazon Instant Video (a.k.a Prime) channel is now available in the Channel Directory. On-Demand purchasing is not currently supported but previous purchases as well as Prime-Eligible (for Amazon Prime members) content are available for viewing. Huge props to jk0 for taking over and really running with this plugin.
-Update Sep 24th, 2012-
An update for the YouTube plugin was just pushed to the Channel Directory today which should fix playback problems for YT playlists. Make sure you've got the latest by checking for updates in the Channel Directory. Since the fix has been made public, I'm removing the "YouTube - playlist support" option from the poll. For those people that voted for it, I guess that means you should be able to vote for something else now if you so choose.
I'm also happy to say that a new plugin developer has taken over development of the much requested Amazon Prime plugin. jk0 has been working like a madman tearing the existing beta channel down and rebuilding it from the ground up. You can follow the development in [this thread.](http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/47600-amazon-prime-instant-video/)
-Update Sep 18th, 2012-
For anyone interested in trying out an alpha version of an updated Amazon Prime plugin, check it out [here.](http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/40239-amazon-prime-plugin-beta/page__view__findpost__p__296601) I want to stress that it is alpha release, so expect problems. If you want to try it out and do experience problems, please post logs in that thread.
There is a completely rewritten plugin for Pandora available as a beta release, [here.](http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/47452-pandora-plugin/) It requires a (paid) Pandora One subscription and it has a few limitations due to the Pandora API and the Plex plugin framework. It no longer relies on Flash and as a result should be much more compatible cross-platform as well as providing a more user-friendly playback experience. If it's generally stable for most users, then it will see a widespread release via the Channel Directory. As with the AmazonPrime channel, feedback (good or bad) should be left in the thread with the download.
-Update Sep 13th, 2012-
For those of you voting for playlist support in the YouTube channel, here's a fix to try. Open the YouTube plugin preferences and disable the pre-play menu by deselecting the option "Allow pre-play menu". Apparently, that made the necessary difference for at least one user.
-Update Sep 11th, 2012-
Well the first week of voting has gone by and as you can see, there have been several additions to the list of plugins in need of attention. There are definitely two front-runners with Amazon Prime rapidly shooting to the front of the pack shortly after it was added. I have started working on fixing/upgrading the Amazon Prime beta plugin available on the forums. As I understand it, the plugin is functional except for the all-important step of actually playing video. I won't offer any ETA for a new working AP plugin but, I do hope that it's done before my month-long free trial subscription expires ![]()
For those of you interested in the Spotify plugin and running PMS on Mac OSX, you may have noticed a minor improvement in that it is now possible to play a single song. There are obviously still issues with the plugin and there's a long way to go before it will be supported for PMS on Windows or Linux. Rest assured, it is not being ignored.
