Plex FireTV and Chrome WebApp buffering on local network Synology DS218play

Server Version#: Plex Media Server v1.30.0.6486-629d58034 - Synology DS218play aarch64 - build: linux-aarch64 synology-dsm7
Player Version#: Version 4.87.2

I have tried reading a number of articles, but cannot see anything that helps. When using the Chrome WebApp and FireTv app I get nothing but bufferring, even though my network is fast (mostly gig wired, but even wifi is 200mpb+). I am running on Synology DS218play NAS with 2TB 7200rpm disc. The CPU gets up to 70%, RAM around the same, the main process is Plex Transcoder. Works okay on my LG webOS TV and the Desktop Plex app.

Thanks.

I’m pretty sure that’s a Realtek based box I don’t think it has the CPU to do much transcoding. Probably disable transcoding and make sure you load your library with stuff that your clients can directplay.

The RTD chips which Synology uses were tested & benchmarked before adding to the NAS Compatibility Guide.

During those tests, it was determined the CPU can transcode up to 20 Mbps of 1080p while converting audio.

The NAS, like any other Synology NAS, is very capable at pushing out a lot of data very efficiently but they did not design it to be a media server appliance.

I have a DS418j development system.

Thank you for the response, I am slightly confused as Synology suggest that this should be able to Transcode 4K in the fly (see attachment) and all my media is MKV 1080p?
