Plex for Android 7.12.0.9084-beta on LG G6

I know a few people have mentioned this in other posts, but the one’s I read were from Samsung devices. I have the LG G6 running 7.12.0.9084-beta and it seems to be eating my battery even though I closed the app. I charge my phone on my hour commute and used Plex for that hour for podcasts. So after I closed the app and went into work the battery drain for plex was 17% for an app not open. I see that there is another update today, but wanted to address this, I will be “force closing” the app tomorrow after I get to work to see if the drain happens again.

Hi There. Thanks for the extra information. I’m going to try and recreate the problem following your usage description above. When you say you closed the app, are you going into the task manager and dismissing the app that way? Or just stopping playback and returning out of the app (pressing the home button). Thanks again for your help. Most updates on this may be posted here (Severe Battery Drain with latest update(s) - #34 by jeanmichelherault) so keep an eye on that post too

Yes I’m closing it through the app manager. I stop the stream and then close it out through the app manager. Sometimes I may have to pull down the notification shade and close it there also. Doing a restart of the phone this morning and going to test on the way into work.

Just checked after reboot and it updated last night to 7.12.0.9101 beta.

So here is my findings today. App running same as yesterday. Charging to 100% in the car listening to podcasts in Plex

Here is that screen shot

Force closed app through (after shutting down app as usual) Settings>Apps>Plex>Force Stop

Left work, put phone on to charge for the ride home, listened to Podcasts on the way home. All while charging, so by my understanding it shouldn’t have any battery usage.
Closed the app with Task Manager (like usual) did not Force Stop App 3 hours after, it shows Plex has used 2% of battery usage and I didn’t have the app open!

I’m going to attempt another try tomorrow and not Force Stop Plex App and take the screen shots again. But it definitely seems to be doing something in the background that is draining the battery fast.

Ok so here is today’s trial. Started the day with 100% battery

I opened Plex in the morning and listen to a podcast for 12 and 1/2 minutes. Closed the app and cleared it in Task Manager.

Then went out and ran some errands and kept my phone in my pocket and only used it for texting and a few phone calls. Just got home and am down to 28% battery and Plex is showing as the top used app, I only used this app for twelve and a half minutes of streaming a podcast in my car. Seems really excessive.

Until you have a fix for this in an update, I guess I need to force close Plex after every use.

So today’s test went a little better. At least Plex isn’t the highest draining app today :+1:

Same test as yesterday. Charged in car to 100% will streaming podcast on the drive in. Got to work, closed app in Task Manager. Did not Force Stop.

(Apologise for all the Buffy wallpapers )
Screenshot from my lunch break

When I went to go home 9 hours later

Still an issue for me when it’s using 4% of the battery when not open/being used.
So daioio is this being addressed anytime soon? I am watching the other thread, but haven’t seen anyone from Plex say anything on this/that thread in 3 Days?
