The new release of Plex for the firestick is complete and utter trash. Performance is crap. Half of my media isn’t playing. The half that is playing takes forever to load. Roll it back. Burn this release and fire every developer who worked on it and rubber stamped it as good. I hate it enough to seriously considering looking for an alternative to Plex.
I know a lot of people hate the new interface. It may be easier to check out Plezy and PM4k. They have become very popular ways to watch your Plex shows without the official Plex client. If you have a Windows desktop, install the client and check it out. Then you can decide if you want to buy it. A lot less work doing that vs a migration
Yeahhhhhhh…no. If I have to spend more money and use a different client than the native one that’s a sure sign it’s time to leave Plex. It’s been getting progressively worse lately and this has made it absolutely unusable in my use case. Very disappointed with the Plex team. Sad sad day
Plezy’s APKs are available for free to download and sideload onto devices from the github, which is also how you would install Kodi to use PM4K. Of course, if you learn how to side-load you could just load the old Plex APK instead.
It’s horrible!! Luckily on one of my TV’s it asked me to launch without updating, so I guess I’ll be doing that forever now. PLEASE allow us to rollback the update and never do an update without some warning in the future. The new update is trash!
I’m hoping they rush out an update as its pretty impossible to skip forward or back without an endless buffering symbol. One thing any media player should be good at is playing media. That includes navigation such as fast forward. Got that annoyed this morning, I put on Jellyfin just to see what actual playback was like. Basic, no frills but just actually worked. I do like the new look Plex but they really have to get the basics right.

I agree. It’s rough. The old UI was much better.
I have no problem with the new interface but I cannot stand the constant buffering and massive delay in loading the content you want to watch. It needs fixed immediately

Seems like this is more of a firestick problem. Amazons attempt to get people to buy new firestick. I’m going with Plan B. Throwing out all the firestick and switching to Roku. FU Amazon!!!
Plex is still on probation though. I’m not happy at all with it right now.
Your solution to issues with a new Plex app is to switch to a platform that is less capable, also has the new Plex app, and gives you no ability to block app updates? It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. I don’t think it will pay off for you.
Meanwhile you could just side-load the old app on the Fire Stick you have, or switch to another player app on it.
Yes. That is my solution. The only power I have is the power of my wallet and time. I choose where to spend my money when corporations decide to force my hand to spend my money to upgrade or move on. I’ll choose live in 100% of the time. Not going to wait 10 years for the eventual class action and my $10 part of the the settlement. Have a great day.
Buffering and massive delay in loading. Can’t back out of a an episode of a playlist. No skipping on a playlist. Everything takes so long to load. Will there be any support on this? Does having a Lifetime pass guarantee some support?
Drives me nuts, if I am in the tv series episodes page I can not back out to main menu. Either end up stuck in that series or at best in the TV series page. Zero way to get out without forcing a restart.
Came here to say this as well, the update is terrible, basically unusable.
