Plex for iOS - don't display UI at start of video

It would be great if the playback controls UI didn’t automatically appear for the first four seconds of every video, blocking half the screen in the process.

I use Plex for play queues of music videos and other short videos; seeing the UI pop up unnecessarily every few minuites is irritating. Even if not watching through a playlist it would be nice if the first few seconds of viewing wasn’t ruined. If I needed the controls they would only be a tap away.

It would be better if this type of thing was an option in a setup screen some people want it and others don’t so let the end user chose.

I don’t really see why this would need to be optional, or why anyone would want the controls obstructing the view of the video. Plex is for media playback and nothing should get in the way of the user watching their media without being requested.

The display of the controls doesn’t add any visual benefit. If you happen to want to operate the controls in that first few seconds of a video you need to touch the screen anyway, so a tap to bring them up is no problem. If you’ve set it up to run through a playlist it’s because you don’t want to have to interact with it between videos, so having to tap to dismiss the controls is an imposition, and not something you can do until they’ve already popped up and disrupted your viewing anyway.
