Plex for iOS issues/questions

Not sure if this should be here or in iOS, feel free to move if needed.
I am using Plex on my iPhone 6.
iPhone is running iOS ver 8.4 (12H143) and is JB’d, Plex version is 4.0.15
When I use BT headphones to listen to music with the Plex app (sync’ed locally) I get occasional cutouts on the headphones. When I listen to the exact same files using the Apple Music app, there are no cutouts. I recently went 6+ hours listening to music with the native music app with no issues at all. I cannot go more than 30 minutes with Plex without getting some sort of cutout. They are just quick ones but happens enough to be annoying. I have tried 5 different sets of BT headphones, from $30 TaoTronics to $100 LG Infinims. All do it with the Plex app.
I have experienced none of this when using the headphones on my iPad watching a movie with Plex or with Amazon Prime (both sync’ed locally).
In addition, a lot of times when using the Plex app on my phone in Airplane mode and then trying to launch the app after turning everything back on the app will hang when trying to load and then crash back to the springboard. The only way to fix that I have found is to reboot the phone. Then Plex works fine.
Has anyone had issues like these? I realize both may have to do with the JB and the older iOS version but I really do not want to mess with that.
Thanks for any assist or info the community can give me on this.

Have you considered upgrading your iOS version? The Bluetooth stack on that version that you’re using could have issues.

I know that you don’t want to update, but you may have no choice. Have you tried a different iOS device? I have an iPad that doesn’t connect with some devices when every other iPhone or iPad that I’ve tried connecting them to work just fine.

Thanks for the reply. Note that I stated when using the native Apple Music app with the exact same files, there are no cutouts and that I also have no issues when using the Plex app or Amazon Prime on my iPad for movies.

I was having Bluetooth headphones problems, but interestingly only with the Music app, not with Plex or Overcast. A couple of things on my problem:

  1. It may have been environmental. I used the headphones for Plex on the train, and Music while walking in London. So it could have been all the interference while walking in London. The only time I had the problem was while walking in London (the time I listened to Music)

  2. I think it’s more stable with 9.3 and 9.3.1.

It’s a hard thing to test, so I can’t say for sure in anything.
